the weekend had many debates on wht is an all-star. traditionally, the starters are voted in by fans which is debatable but fair since this is a game about fans. true shaq shouldn't be in but the fans want to see him and he doesn't have many more of these opportunities. always reserves are open for debate. people think that the coaches vote for people who are on winning teams and helping their teams to win. however with that logic, why do nj have two all-star representitives? why was chicago snubbed if they have the top 5 record in the east? so that isn't the criteria. I always thought and should be the best people in their positions should go no matter what is the record. this is when curry jumps in. he is the second best center in the east this year outside of d howard. if you work hard to be one of the best in your position, should you be there? i admit, besides maybe vince carter and shaq, everyone deserves to be on the team. they are the best at their positions. but curry, joe johnson and ben gordon belong their too since they are the best in their position in the east. just a thought.

all they have to do is expand the rosters to add 2-3 more people. there are 15 teams in the conference so why not have 15 all stars?

I say let the fans vote for every spot.

All the players names go into the hat? Thats not a bad idea. I think the All Star game is pretty boring. I pretty much only watch the slam dunk contest.

Why base it on position? What if there are 5 SF's who are 5 of the obvious best players in their conference but there are only 2 centers and 2 PG's who are legitimate all stars? Should the 3rd best C and PG be all stars in place of the 2 SF's who are obviously better and more deserving?

If anything the best 12-15 players from each conference should go. This year you'd have Gordon, Johnson and Redd going with Okafor as the alternate.

Curry left it to chance. If he had played solid defense he would be on the team without question. In summary never leave anything to chance, because you may lose.

I agree. It's better this way. He is pissed off now, and hopefully he will stay that way and start making progress in other areas (ie. Defense and Rebounding, blocks are for next year ;) Hopefully it's clear to Curry now too that he needs to play defense. We are really one good shooter away from being a good playoff team. How much of that role is Channing playing? (I don't get to watch too often). Cause he is shooting lights out still. When Q was playing without pain he was playing like an all star. We wouldn't have needed the shooter now.

I think it will be difficult for Curry to pick up the defensive side. Rotating, timing etc aren't just effort. It's anticipation, instinct and being able to move in a controlled manner.

All that can be applied to rebounding yes, but it's not as important a factor. Curry could change this part of his game tomorrow. I think his all-star snub had less to do with defense(because there are always guys on all-star teams that don't play d) and more to do with a 7 foot 285 pounder barely averaging 7 rebounds per game.

They should expand it to 15 players for each team. The league has added 6 teams over the last 20 years but has kept the number of all-stars the same. There are enough teams that you could have 15 players per team and still ensure that all the players are worthy of the honor.

Leave it at 12. The less players you have in the game, the more your spot becomes earned. No need to dilute the roster so that "everyone can be a winner"
