The logo is looking for new blood for his team. I would send Frye, Nate and Malik for Gasol.

This would be a win-win for both team.

Memphis
C-Frye
PF-Cardinal
SF-Warrick
SG-Gay
PG-Nate

NY
C-Curry
PF-Gasol
SF-Lee
SG-Crawford
PG-Dinglebury

malik's contract kills it. if we had mo, then possibly, but they say no for malik.

I hear you but Malik's contract is not as bad as last year.

Gasol is signed through what- 2010-11 and will be at $17mm?

I don't want that on my cap- I might send them Francis & Frye for Gasol & Filler.

Gasol- good, almost great player- but he isn't a superstar, doesn't get us closer to the playoffs or a championship.

I might look at a three way if we could get a wing player, perhaps.

If logo says no to that deal...I would offer Frye, Nate, Francis for Gasol and Cardinal. Francis has a shorter contract than Cardinal and is a better player than Malik and Cardinal.

How ironic would that be though if Francis is traded to the Grizzlies.

you guys are on drugs, gasol for frye and a bad contract, frye has limited value in this league and a package of thomas, the knicks lottery pick and selfolosa is much better than anything we can give them, especially for a rebuilding team....

I think west would find that offer quite amusing. It suucks for Memphis. Make some fair trade proposals. I'm sure in memphis people are calling in to sports radio saying "if only we could somehow get frye, nate and malik, that would be a killer trade for us"
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Hey- take a look at Gasols contract, add up how many playoff games Gasol has won, how many games they are winning with him & the likelihood that Gasol will suddenly one day become an NBA Superstar- and tell me again why we should add his maxed out, marginally talented butt to our squad?

Yes- the talent equation proposed is one sided, but so is the cost savings and cap freedom.

This is just like a Marbury type deal that is one sided talent wise, but crippling cap wise.

Jerry West is too smart to deal with the Knicks unless you plan on giving up Frye and Lee in the same deal to get Gasol. This isn't some bum we're getting, this is Pau Gasol.

I can tell you right now a Lee Frye Rose change deal would get it done--Ive thought about it--Im against giving up Lee

It does fill the PF with a shot blocker--elite player who doesnt come on the market every day.

I tell you if I was running the Knicks--this is something I would have to consider for the good of the team. I would also need a chucky atkins back--so they have to take on jefferies?

Isiah invest in a Spaniard?

Is he from Chicago? No. Isiah don't play the Euro card.

Poor Isiah can't do any "scouting" trips this season!

And Crawford put up 52 and hit 16 straight.

Granted, Gasol puts up good numbers every night- but I am sorry- he is signed at MAX $$$ through 2010-11. He isn't a max player. Next.

Gasol doesnt have the 'loser' tag Marbury did. They won 50,45 and 49 in the superior West behind Gasol. Yes, they got swept, but by Dallas the Suns and Spurs.

I wouldnt put Gasol next to Curry though. I would rather offer Curry/Frye for Gasol.

You really have the makings for a bigtime uptempo frontcourt with Gasol/Balkman/Lee. Nate would look good there also, even Shoobury, because those 3 really crash the boards and can follow a penetrating guard to the basket.

It frees up minutes for Lee and Balkman who deserve them anyway

considering all the money we've spent - let me put it to you this way, we have $17-19 mil invested in quentin and jamal in 2010, and jamal and jeffries in 2011.

wouldn't you rather have that in gasol? we are not going to be under the cap as long as jamal, quentin, and curry are on this team. we are fiscally irresponsible giving big money to players that don't deserve it. so if we're going to spend, might as well do it for a guy that we know can play the game.

I think some of you are again underrating Gasol and it really amazes me that most guys here think Curry will be better than Gasol. As much as i like Curry he will never block shots, shoot from outside the paint when needed, and pass the ball at the same level Gasol does, and beyond that Gasol is an intelligent player, something which Curry is not and I really doubt he will ever be. A loser?? Yes, he was in the worst team of the league and led them to their first 3 consecutive play-off seasons almot winning 50 games!!!!

I will give them Frye, Crawford and Malik, but as much as I would like to see Gasol in the Knicks (he and Lee could be nice together), I dont think we have enough good contracts to make any deal work.

I'm not underrating Gasol- I'm just saying folks are overrating him. He aint worth $17MM in 2010-11.

Granted- he's a good player- but he isn't a superstar.

Would he be the best player on our team if he was traded here- probably.

I just wouldn't offer memphis anything like what folks are saying it would take to get him.

Francis & Frye- for Gasol & Filler- its a salary dump for memphis, of sorts.

And no- I do not expect that deal would get it done- but it doesn't seem that far off from what was asked of portland-

Memphis Offered Gasol To Portland For Package Including Aldridge?
30th January, 2007 - 6:49 am
New York Post -
Portland was offered Pau Gasol for LaMarcus Aldridge, Sergio Rodriguez and Jamaal Magloire's expiring contract, according to New York Post beat writer Peter Vescey.

Vescey writes that it's unknown whether the Trail Blazers are receptive, or even if a counteroffer was solicited.

Thats too bad if thats true, because we had all those expiring deals to clear salary, wouldn't have been a bad move if we could have done something similiar and then turn around and send Curry/Crawford/Nate for Josh Smith or something along those lines......

I really think the only way this team gets better is moving Crawford and Curry and packaging Frye to get something good and then looking for cap room

Smith for the month of January
16.1pts 7.5rbs 2.2ass 3.1blks 2.0 stls

I think its safe to say the kid is about to become a superstar on both ends of the floor i would give anyone up on our team for a chance to get him except Lee........

To think Isiah could have had him in year 1 if he didn't give the suns his draft pick, and if he was smart enough to take granger or bynum next year we would actually have a future.....
