The Last thread got a little lengthy, so let’s start fresh.

Some obvious observations:

1) Our good shooters are not consistent
2) Without Lee and Balkman in the game we are pathetic on the O-Boards.

Some obvious conclusions:

1) When we aren't hitting from the parameter, put in Lee and Balkman much sooner.
2) If Isiah made those subs yesterday much earlier we would have won that game.

I'm not going to get into who should start, Isiah is the coach and I cut him that slack. But I do get annoyed to see 8-0, 10-0 runs with no time outs and the obvious substitutions not being made. If anybody out there has a clue as to why he waits so long, please post, you'll be doing me and all those around me a great favor.

dude this team doesn't need a "stat".

the pieces aren't meant to work the way they are...

period.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

every time a player does bad, you can't give him a quick hook for fear of making those players timid. Give them some space and slack and find out what they can do. There is something to be said for consistent minutes and rotations too.

Isiah pumped JJ too much and the team, player and coach are all suffering for it.

I agree with this point. You cannot just pull players out everytime they make a mistake. Guys needs to feel comfortable and get into a groove as to their minutes and the rotation. Otherwise, guys will be focused on not making mistakes rather than just playing the game. That is why IT needs to make the decision that: (a) Balkman is going to sub in for the starting SF and play 20 minutes every game; and (b) Lee is going to get at least 35 minutes every game. If IT wants to continue to start Frye, I don't care, but Lee should not get less than 35 minutes a game and Balkman should be getting consistent minutes.

Sooo... Yow will take Eddy and Craf out after every defensive position and Marbs, Craf, anf Fry after each 3 shots missed in a row or after each turnover.
i wish it will be sooo simple... and I saw one guy trying this last season... what was his name?

Offensive rebounds aren't our problem.

The fact that we're building around a halfcourt Center with fastcourt demons who can't shoot, alongside a completel lack of interior defense IS THE PROBLEM.

Your point is taken, but... we seem to be competitive when we follow up our missed shots. How many time do we hear Clyde say "Boxing out is a lost art in the NBA". Your other points are on the money except maybe the "can't shoot", I'd amend to "can't shoot consistently" which brings us back to the offensive boards. I guess my subtler point is that this is something we can do something about. Rebounding, like defense is all about effort. Granted we don't want to give up to many fast breaks, but other than Lee, Balkman the are _NO_ knick jerseys under the hoop when a shot goes up (Ok Q once, with that dramatic slam).

Dude, this thread should be locked on the simple premise that we're the best rebounding team in the league, with the best offensive rebounder in the game.

ITS A FACT.

Well that's my point, when he's in we're competitive, get him in sooner. Heck I might become a start-him zealot.

and btw - the notion that o-boards don't matter - is ridiculous. It's our strong o-rebounding that keep us in a lot of these games. If only TWO players are willing to do the work, PLAY-EM.

Now the threads done.

Thread's not done just year, pivot...

I think you should become a "start Lee" zealot right now. If your point is that Lee is ultra-valuable to our success, then why is he not starting? Why do we want arguably our most valuable player (I said "arguuably") on the bench at the start of a game? Why do we want to dig ourseleves a hole before putting him in? Why do we not think the 1st five minutes of the game are as important as the last five minutes? It's borderline absurd to me, but what do I know?
