Same basic reason Lee doesn't start: Because Isiah is a joke and is his own biggest enemy.

He drafts Balkman, everyone hates the pick, Balkman playes very well in preseason and becomes a fan favorite, but Isiah all but buries him once the season starts, even though it's obvious the guy can help us.

Yeah, Isiah sees that if he doesn't play Jeffries, Mr. Dolan's gonna wanna know why he spent $30 million on him. (Though it seems like Isiah is finally catching on that Jeffries, well, ain't as good as Balkman.)

Balkman does make some rookie mistakes but for the most part, his overall game is more beneficial than anyone we currently have playing SF. Lee at the PF and Balkman at the SF spot provide sufficient defense, rebounding, and shot-blocking (in Balkman) to mask Curry's deficiences in those areas. I would play Balkman 20 minutes a game and live with his rookie mistakes.

Can't play balkman more, it makes him look more incompetant for signing jefferies, this is one reasaon i think isiah has been awful all season, he has used a ton of different starting lineups and fails to realize that david lee is the best player on this team and his play has done more to warrant an allstar selection than curry to date........

he has also really hurt crawfords game, givin jefferies minutes he doesn't deserve and now wants to put the emphasis on the teams poor free throw shooting as a reason for not winning games. Perhaps its that Isiah ****ed up royaly in last years draft by taking the soft one dimensional frye and passing up on two starters for the next 10 years in granger and bynum. He has now managed to start the three worst defenders on the team in frye, curry and crawford, who by the way can't check anyone......

Its been painfully obvious that Balkman makes things happen when he plays, we play better when him and lee are working together out there, he is already the second best rebounder on the team and the teams best shotblocker but jefferies has earned his starting spot by being signed. Isiah shows no consitency i don't care about the minutes being reduced.

His eye for talent isn't anything special in all honesty i am so sick of hearing it, crawford is the ultimate puzzle and shows you a glimpse but then plays horrible without any defensive intensity, nate looks more and more like a quick spark off the bench, fyre is so limited its scary and jj1 and jj2 are both disgraceful.....

Curry
Lee
Balkman
Q
Marbury

Thats who should be starting and then he should let Jamal and Frye work together on the pick and role and get frye involved down low, instead he just lets the kid run around like a little girl doing nothing positive. Crawford can still play his 35 minutes, but i would rather see him run the offense with the second unit.

If Balkman doesn't start playing 20 minutes a night there is a problem

Balkman is already 20 times better than Jefferies. If we can find two guards who can shoot consistently--Id just let Lee Blakman Curry Crawford and Starbury play 38 minutes with the only frontcourt sub Frye and backcourt sub Q-rich--play 7 guys

what about if we could find guys that came to play every night for 4 quarters? Our prob is not shooting talent wise.. our gaurds can shoot the ball.. but only when their head is in the game, and on nights like these.. we come half asleep. I blame it on Isiah

how about isiah including the 15% trade kicker on jefferies contract, more needs to be made of his ****ing terrible deals that he offers these guys. He is one of the worst deal makers in the nba and continues to repeat his mistakes

oh god, those are good comparisons. You *might* add Rose to that list and Q if his back doesn't hold up.

We are basically at the midway point. Now, Isiah wants to win, but he doesn't want to look stupid doing so, we all seem to agree on that. But since the season is at stake, he will not ride out Jefferies starting. You can already see the early stages of it. He is a players coach and don't want to burn britches (whatever those are) it seems.

If Balkman keeps playing this well I can see him getting 25 minutes or more a night by seasons end. Isiah seems to take these things slow. Maybe to keep the team behind him he is working things out...

Lee needs to start, yes. But I'd like seeing how Balkman and Lee play together, wonder if Balkman can contribute to good starting lineup. I think if the other three are hitting there shots and Lee and Balkman clean up, it will be a good unit.

Let's not forget Mutombo, Doleac.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Even if we are the same exact 33-39 win team we were a couple years ago, the guys we 'accomplished' that feat with were/are all over the hill (even if mutombo can play til he's 60). The record was going to stay between 33-39. And we had the leagues highest payroll.

Now we are doing that with mostly kids, still the highest payroll, but young assets that for the most part have some value to other teams.
