99 didnt have the Pacers and the nets to play against who are really the only 2 good teams in the East. But both of them will hand it to these Knicks...you are telling me this team can step onto a playoff court against the Pacers or the Nets and hold their own? I just dont see it happening. However, I would love to see it.

Like the heat...
But we have played well against the top teams. We beat the Pacers with Artest, and we beat the Nets. We can hang with the big boys, especially when our 3-point shot is falling. If we grab a center, we'll be able to drop KT to the 4 to bother JO and KMart even more, and still have the inside presence to disrupt both teams' passing game. All that's left is to win these easy games.

Hopefully the Knicks learn from thise Heat loss not to relax with a minute to go on a six point lead. Having the Heat score 8 straight points is unacceptable.
go knicks!

I, too, think the Knicks need a center. I'd go after Ilgauskas. He help the Knicks now and in the future. Though the Knicks lose their backup PG, they strengthen their frontcourt immensely. Harrington is 6'7" and Ilgauskas is 7'3". He can score in the post, and would help Thomas, who can shoot very well. I'd make that trade, maybe try to get Smush Parker thrown in to play backup point. Either way, I'd try to obtain a center.

I agree. We could really really use him. He is averaging 18 on the cavs, and although he wouldn't get that much with us, the fact the he is capable of it is what we need. I don't know about his defensive presence in the paint, but we really NEED a center and he is a good one. I was mad we didn't go after Brad Miller. He is also a good scoring center although I don't think he scores with his back to the basket. We also should have gone after Todd Mccullogh. We need guys like that,or let me say we can really use guys like him.

this doesnt smell ANYTHING like 99. In 99 the Knicks and Indiana were picked as the top two seeds, and the Knicks had the talent to compete for a title. It was a lockout season, with no camp or real preseason, and the Knicks started very slow with all the new plays (Spree, Camby). By the season end they finished red hot and the rest is history.

This year even with Dice, the playoffs were anything but a sure thing. Without Dice everyone picked us as lottery fodder.

Lets keep this in perspective.

I thought the playoffs were a sure thing with McDyess. The guy averaged like 19 and 12 in the preseason in 25 minutes a game, he was a definite 20/10 guy. Put him in the staring lineup instead of Harrington and I think the Knicks are definitely a playoff team.

you're right, but let's keep some hope alive. we've beat some of the better teams all season, before going hot, so, why not?
