He's a player who has a lot of miles on his body. He's one tough mother--but age stops for no one.

I dont know if you have been following the Knicks for the past 10 years but 9 times out of 10 we have misdiagnosed our players and thier injuries have turned out to be a lot worse than we originally thought thus costing them in some cases their careers. I think he should see a specialist and get multiple opinions, get that **** examined every which way.. tendinitis sure, but he obviously pulled/strained/ripped something during the Indiana game the other night.

I just feel like there is some sort of brush injuries under the rug and hope they go away mentality around the NBA. They need to take more precautions. It probobly starts with the stubborness of the player but I dont know, i have just seen this one too many times before.

Marb has had tendinitis and I think this latest thing is more than that.

Marbury, Francis, Penny, I wonder who goes down with a knee problem next.....

You should be worried because apparently we didn't need a point guard in the draft because we have so many of them

After having Houston, McDyess, Ewing and even Glen Rice on the team (He did have poor knees, didn't he?) I've finally learned that knee tendinitis is nothing to screw around with. Personally, if we're 10 or so below .500, I simply think the Knicks should shut Marbury down for the rest of the season and check if he needs any surgery. If we're out of the playoffs, we might as well let him get his surgery now, let him recover the rest of the season, and Summer and hopefully be ready by training camp. God forbid he needs surgery at all. Either way, if he does, it's a disaster.

Not enough $$ on the buyout, I'm guessing.

Elite - don't you get the sense that all pro athletes, especially football players, have been trained to "fight through" injuries for fear of losing their jobs.. or worse.. their reputations?

You are correct about the system of team doctors who misdiagnose, or clear players for action, or worse, drug them into numbness for sake of an appearance.

Marbury, trying to be the good soldier, may have been playing with a bad knee for longer than we may be aware... possibly dating back to his long Olympic season... just to "man-up" and prove he is tough.

Unfortunately, none of us will ever know what pain he has been playing with.

even if he's faking, he wouldn't be ready to play for this team... if he's still here after the season ends, he'll need another full summer training camp to get himself back into playing shape & into synch w/the rest of these guys... & by that time Steph will be playing again obviously... he really has no future here whether he's healthy or not, so we either need to buy him out, or just tell him to stay home a-la Tim Thomas & wait for his contract to become tradeable in 2008.

well, there are different levels of tendinitis, some you can play through, some you can't. Only rest helps.

Marbury's left knee is still troubling him, though he and the team medical staff do not feel an MRI is necessary.

Okay, let me tell you guys:

Tendinitis is debilitating and no joke. It does not go away. There is no surgery for it that I am aware of. It is basically an overuse injury. It can be treated with strengthening, rest, ice, anti-inflammatory drugs, but playing basketball only aggravates it and it cannot be cured.

Probably every player who has played in the NBA for a few years has some form of it and if it gets bad it can easily be a career ender.

Tendinitis has nothing to do with an MRI. Tendinitis is inflammation. AN MRI is to assess damage, such as a cartilage injury, not inflammation.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!
