Channing Frye has struggled lately, not scoring in 14 minutes on Monday, but Thomas insisted he's not displeased with the forward.

"He's not at the Jermaine [O'Neal]-, Kevin Garnett-level yet," Thomas said. "We were expecting him to have a rough night against O'Neal, expected him to have a rough night against Garnett."

Then he had another rough one against the woefully undermanned Heat.

"But he's learning, he's progressing," Thomas said.

Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant
Think hell move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, cant
Move a rubber tree plant

But hes got high hopes, hes got high hopes
Hes got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your gettin low
stead of lettin go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

When troubles call, and your backs to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought hed punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin that dam

cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your feelin bad
stead of feelin sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

All problems just a toy balloon
Theyll be bursted soon
Theyre just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop

I'm not gonna get on him too much about it, but to imply that he has the expectation of Channing at some point getting to that level....just.....wow....

Frye has talent, he just needs deep determination and I'm not sure he has it. That's the difference between 15 pts 6 rebs and 23 pts and 10 rebs.

i think that's a stretch bro... he was saying that Channing was progressing & still learning... i didn't read that as him saying he expected Frye to be the next KG or JO.

I dunno, he did say yet. I kinda took the same impression Joe did.

Besides, Isiah has already said he would've drafted Frye #1 if he had that pick. Why back off on that now? Isiah isn't in the business of admitting mistakes, and showing that he's human. So, Frye (aka future-KG/O'Neal) has to start, because otherwise Isiah may have to admit that he made a bad pick.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Isiah is just ****ing stupid to even bring either of those guys up, they are more fundamentally sound without four years of college with one of the best coaches in college basketball.....

Those two are athletes and can run and jump and actually move non mechanically....

"YET" He just needs never to talk again, we are still waiting for JJ2 to make the impact the zeke said he was going to make, since we couldn't judge the knicks without him

him starting Frye for those reasons might be true, but i don't think anyone would ever compare Frye's style of game even w/KG or JO... he's alot more like Rasheed than those guys if you have to make a comparison just based on style of play & their comparative physical traits.

Yeah, Frye is a less athletic version of Rasheed Wallace. I think he may become an even better shooter than Rasheed if he continues to work on developing his range and fade-away jumper. But he will never be as good a defensive player because he does not have the same fluidity as Rasheed. I don't think getting Frye was a bad pick, but he is not going to become K.G. or O'Neal in terms of his overall performance (although he could conceivably develop to their level on offense).

I don't think he is anything like Wallace, Rasheed is slowing down a bit but thats a guy that could flat out run the floor and finish, he had an unstoppable post game early in his career has three point range and shoots it well, plays good defense and could jump out of the building something frye will never do.

Frye is a spot up jump shooter with no balls or fire, hasn't proved otherwise

I agree. Height aside, I don't see the comparison. Sheed had much more of a game than just shooting jumpers.

the key word there is that he HAD much more of a game than just shooting jumpers... now he's pretty much a perimeter shooting bigman, just like Channing... Channing is in no way, shape or form a JO or KG type player.

Ohh. You were comparing him to now. I still think Sheed's defense is MUCH better than Frye's is... even now. But you're right, Sheed has regressed a bit. On offense, they may be similar, although I'd still take Sheed.

(Btw, this marks my 3000th post. Only 8500+ to catch Bonn. )

obviously all 3 of those guys play defense head & shoulders above Channing... that's not even a debate... & i would much rather have Sheed too (except for his attitude, that i could do without)

congrats on #3000... you're now a UK HOFer.
