Thinking back in hindsight. Though a lot of these things were things that fans were begging for before they happend.

2002 NBA draft instead of drafting Nene, Butler, Stoudemire, Wilcox which was the top 4 picks that everyone wanted. We trade Camby, Jax & rights to #7 for Dice. Even if we ended up with Nene or Wilcox instead of studs like Stoud & Butler. They would still be valuable trade assets for us right now at this point. Plus we would have kept Camby. If they would have only listend to us. Mostly Briggs since he wanted Stoude the most.

2003 after Dice went down with injury in preseason. And Sprewell had to miss a ton of time due to his hand injury. Instead of *tanking* to get into the Lebron, Milicic, Bosh, Wade, Kaman, Hinrich, Ford sweepstakes. We stay mediocre enough not to get any of them. TMS, Fish, Bippity & I, I think were the biggest leaders of the campain to tank.

2004 after starting the season 16-22. Layden gets fired, Thomas is hired. Instead of again *tanking* to get into the Okafor & Dwight Howard sweepstakes. We trade for Marbury and become good enough to get the 8th seed just for that yr. When we could have tanked tried to dump KVH for a shorter. And even if we didn't get Okafor or Howard. With a top 6 draft pick we could have probably traded that straight up for something just as valuable as Marbury. #6 pick, Lampe, Milos, Sweetney, Dice ending contract, Ward ending contract could have been dangled for 2 seperate studs. #6, Lampe, Ward could proabably gotten us a stud player. While Dice, Sweetney, Milos could ahave probably gotten us another stud player. Might have to add a future draft pick depending on the player. I remember Solace used to argue that point.

Thats 3 seperate yrs in which a lot of fans knew what was best for the knicks over managment. They would have played there cards right just one of those yrs and we are a contending team right now. Lets not make the same mistakes going forward from right now. Just draft, let contracts expire. In 2yrs we will have a TON of flexability, and we will have a good idea of who Curry, Frye, Lee really are. Marbury, Franics, Rose will be in there walking yrs. QRichardson, Jerome James would have one yr left making him expendable only in a no brainer deal and not deals for more long term salaries for one dimensional players. Though James is probably cut before then. Curry has a player option which he will most likley use. Crawford & Jefferies would have 2yrs left making there contracts not look as bad in any deal to trade for even shorter contracts. Focus on getting complete flexabiliy by 08-09. And then from there we can have the flexability with our draft picks, & ending contracts, and better cap situation to possibly make a true championship calibre team.
