what has gotten into marbs?

He shot bad against the wiz, but is it me or is this guy just a whole different player. He is making the right passes, scoring at the right times, and playing some mofukin defense.

Hey somebody get his stats together since Magic spoke to him. That should be telling also. The defense has been weird for real.

I think it's a combination of playing himself into shape and getting Isiah's system and shaking off the nightmare of last year.

His numbers since Dec 16th = 21.7ppg 6.9apg 1.1spg

It could be as simple as he just started listening and stop complaining. The two seemed to coincide

He keeps playing like this and he will be just fine. His defense has been sustained at the best level I have ever seen from him. He did make (or not make really) a couple of poor recognition plays down the stretch.

This team is growing.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

The dude is fighting over screens, denying the pass, running all over with his guy and KEEPING HIS MOUTH SHUT TO THE MEDIA. Those are huge differences. If he keeps this up, I'll begin to believe again.

I called magic and he said that he told steph "think about those kids buying your sneakers man" SAC-UP and SHUT UP.... Marbury replied "OH JUST BALL" Magic answered yea man

He's always been his own worst enemy. When he focuses on winning and not what he can get out of it he starts playing up to his potential. I love the way he is playing. And even though we are still under .500 the fans of NY still respect his effort. Magically the boo's have disappeared. It was that simple, it just took 11 years for him to get it. Hopefully he doesn't forget.

He said the knicks would have 13 wins right now if francis was still in the lineup and nate didn't get suspended allowing marbury to play the entire game, relax and find his rythm, instead of being yanked in and out of the game so isiah could try to prove a point, while allowing crawford to play selfish, careless out of control ball

MS: I actually think Isiah did prove a point to Marbs. It's funny how he's been playing great ball since he pouted at the Chicago come back. It's not always about winning today.

Bip I agree to an extent, but i think the knicks success has to do with our coach who has no idea how to put a team together getting a pass with Francis because it was a disaster having him here, and it helped him put nate on a leash now that he started a brawl......All reason why we are playing better

NO Balkman is seriously starting to annoy me, especially since he can harrass guards

No, we are on the same page. The Francis thing was a complete disaster. Whether LB wanted him or not, there is no purpose behind having him on the team. I do think the four guards affected our play and cost us some games. But this was one of the problems I talked aobut in the pre-season. Having 4 guys that have similar faults can have negative effects. Especially if they all want to play.

I have no ill will towards any of the guards. they all have abilities. They all have flaws. But we'd be better off turning some of their immense talent into a shotblocker, dead eye shooter or perimeter defender. Having all of them is pointless.

that's exactly what it was imo... he finally decided he'd bust his butt on the basketball court & stop whining to the media about things that are out of his control... makes you wonder why it took him so damn long to finally get it... or is this just yet another temporary phase he's going through before his alter-ego takes over again?

Being a Bashbury myself I give him props.

I think that Marbury is too worried about his cred and plays to satisfy himself and his critics. But the Defense playing shows more heart and his teammates respect that.

I think that Guys like Magic and Clyde finally got thru to him that all the things that Lenny, Isiah and Larry tell him are the truth but he needs to stop worrying about trying to be "TOLD WHAT TO DO"! and how that looks.

I think this guy has been trying to not be the selfish prick anymore but has had big ego problems with authority figures. If he has matured and owned up to his ability it makes him a better player.

The lack of Franscis and Nate also helps with his minutes.

I still don't think he is a winner or has the mental toughness to be a ice clutch player, but that still might become of him one day.

But, he is playing better, and trying on defense much more!

Props to Marbury. Even Nalod can grow up a bit too!

There could have been a purpose bip ,if two-faced Isiah told LB something different about how they would handle Marbury.

I agree. I can't believe how hard he is playing on D! he always had the potential because he is so strong.

doesn't watching him play now get you more pissed off at him for not doing this all the time?

I have thought about this often and am really trying to put it aside. It makes me remember how many times he undermined Lenny. How he bickered with LB. And how he almost completely rebelled against the one man that has given him everything(Isiah). Almost destroying this season as well. But then I remind myself to live in the now and realize that this guy is really giving an effort and that I need to put aside my obvious rage. But if this guy falls apart again. Man, it's over for him.

He deserves a lot of credit for what he's accomplished these past few weeks. If it has something to do with something Magic or Clyde told him, then he deserves credit for listening to them.

I've seen him do well for stretches before, so I want to see him sustain this over the course of the season. As it is, my Marbury hatred is diminishing game by game.

Maybe Marbury is just growing up.
