Live From Suite 329 At MCI

(with all due respcet to the Pulitzer Prize winning material of my idol djsu)

A few random observations

Marbury leads the Knicks out of the locker room and the layup line is determined. Nate dances before the starting lineups are announced better than most Soul Train kids. With that said, from the time they came out to warm up one could sense the Knicks had some extra bounce to their step.

Stephon was on Arenas like a leech. End of story. When he gets T'd up, Isiah rushes to his defense and DEMANDS to be given a technical foul. The refs oblige but it sends an immediate signal that this road game is serious.

Steph gets a blow and on comes Nate. Nate is crazy, but there is no denying his talent as he busts a long jumper and a driving layup in deep traffic a brief shift.

At about the seven minute mark, David Lee enters the ballgame and gets a rise from a row of about six Knicks fans with Lee 42 jerseys. He rebounds in traffic with a rare blend of angle anticipation and athleticism.

Jamal hoists an assortment of long range shots that he missed most of. Quentin was unconscious to the point when he missed a fourth quarter three, he smacks his hands as he expects everthing to drop on this special night.

Q can't miss. This can't be the same guy who could not hit a shot to save his life last season. He rips a rebound in traffic for another 2.

Jeffries hits a few early jumpers and gets modest bood from the crowd who treat him as if he never mattered, until the game gets close in the 4th.

The Wiz may have the sexiest dance team in the NBA. No joke. They gyrate to The Pussycat Dolls and Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back". I need some ice water.

Marbury misses one wild layoup and is yanked immediately. He busts a jumper. Misses anothe layup down the stretch and makes up for it with a sweet rummer inside of a minute (I think... damn, how does dj rememeber stuff?)

The crowd explodes as Caron Butler jams in the game winner. Caron is new and improved. Arenas was denied the ball all evening with a creative commbination of traps and Marbury's desire. Marbury is as good as he wants to be.

Summary

4949 has it right

The Knioks played with purpose and poise down the stretch. They came back not once, but threee times in this ballgame. The Wiz made and outstanding pass for the game winner.

This Knicks squad is turning into a team. There is no need to push any moves that could disrupt what is taking place. CWebb would have been a HUGE mistake.

Let this squad gain experience together. They will lose some heartbreakers. They will also WIN some nail biters. Patience is the key word for this young roster.

I am digging this edition of the NYKnicks

They will only get better

Check me out dude, free chips, pretzels... the works!

MCI has none of the aroma or charm of The Garden as it feels antiseptic. The music plays throughout the game to mask the fact the fans are bored.

During a timeout a "fan" comes out to attempt a three for free Papa Johns pizza for the entire arena. Not only does he hit the shot, he LEAVES his right arm up - wrist snapped - to emphasize the beauty of his work.

"Oh, It's SO pret-tay!"

Pepperoni please
