i'm watching this knicks/wiz game.
i'm watching other games in the league.
outside of a handful of teams, nobody in this league knows how to play.
the fundamentals are completely gone as is the team game.
it's pretty f'n disgusting.

tonight's game was a chuckfest and a total display of everything wrong with the nba.

it was tough to watch.

Do away with dunking.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

I think they did that in NCAA basketball when Karem (Lou at the time) was in college.

And how would that make it a more team oriented game?

Basically anything I say you're going to have a problem with, right?

Well for one thing maybe players will practice fundamentals instead of fancy dunks. As well as finishing near the basket.

The Wizards were brutal to watch in the first qrt. It was a take your turn offense full of jump shots. I knew the game was a bust from that point on. I didn't get a chance to watch the second half.

that doesn't make sense, I don't think anyone practices fancy dunking in the NBA, some guys are just gifted and creative, but that has nothing to do with team play, Jordan was a great dunker yet his fundamentals were top notch. I would have a problem with your comment too. It makes no sense. I do think the three point shot has caused a lot of non shooters to wonder out too far, but dunking? come on..

The fundamentals aren't there b/c many of today's players don't want to be coached.

Thank David stern.

The NBA is a homo league. International play is much better. Instead of changing the rules to police the players, and trying to make life easier for the scorers with the stupid rule changes.

Go knicks!

Yep. The NBA is a league that lacks fundamentals and team play. That happens a lot, when teams *prefer* to take a "raw" "physical specimin" over a technically sound player who will never be a *star*. That, and the league is set up in a way that discourages team play more than in other leagues.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Stern did the damage promoting MJ in his younger years WHEN HE WENT ONE ON ONE with flash.

All the children growing up watching the NBA realized being like MJ(offensive skills-dunking ) can get you "big jack" even out of highschool. NOT FUNDAMENTALS
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I didn't catch this game. Been too busy lately and quite frankly, it's tough when you only like 2-3 players out of an entire team, and hate the coach.

I'll be tuned in against the Nets, though. Will be cool to meet everyone.

Which is why Tim Duncan hardly ever gets the respect and pub he deserves. He's probably the most technically sound in the league but he's cast aside b/c he's boring and a robot.

I'm telling you - a lot of these guys just don't want to be coached. They'd rather get bling from some jeweler than one from winning a championship.

As soon as a coach tries to coach players he is called a disciplinarian that is playing head games. We don't allow our coache's to coach anymore. They coddle. It works great in the NBA because everyone does it. But when we play overseas we really get to see how poorly coached most of our superstars are.
I just hope that people will like me

It's because of Money!!!...David Stern took the money and watered down the league...There are too many teams in the league...Are teams really necessary in OK, NJ,Charlotte,Memphis, and Toronto..Back during the golden era of basketball, Boston feature a team with a lineup of Bird, The Chief,Maxwell,Ainge,DJ(Dennis Johnson)..McHale coming off the bench..Imagine that guy coming off the bench in NY..Poster here would die....Lakers had Magic, Kareem, Worthy,AC Green,Byron Scott...McAdoo,Cooper,Rambis coming off the bench...Detroit had Zeke,Dumars,Lambier,Rodman,Arguirre,Mahorn,Salley,Edwards, the microwave...Real teams with players...Today if a team have two all starts they can compete with the Elites...Lebron and Lebron alone is leading Cleveland..Kobe is winning without Odom...Name two all starts in Orlando..etc...

Money!...Players are leaving school early to earn some cash in the NBA..They are not learning the team concept that makes the game beautiful...They skipped college all together until last year...Most studs will only spend one year in college...Imagine Ewing stay four years at Georgetown...Unheard of...I think Hakeem the Dream spent four years as well...Rarely did a player leaue who wasn't ready...They really went to college to learn to play the game...So yeah the game has changed dramatically, for the worse...

Your initial debate is irrelavent. There are too many teams in the league ? What the heck are you talking about, almost every league has 30 teams! And yes, teams are necessary in OK, NJ,Charlotte,Memphis, and Toronto because we need 30 teams !

I agree with your asessment on the quality of the players, there's no doubt the game ain't the same as far the the players having the basic fundamentals of basketball mastered. But hey, I'm 99% sure you'd do the same thing as those guys by playing a season at the collegiate level and earning some cool cash in the machine they call the NBA.
the league is terrible
