how is Oden an unknown commodity?

Because he's never played a minute in the NBA.

I understand that he has immense known skills. But for the purposes of this poll, he's unknown because he's unproven at the NBA level.

But Oden, like many other college players, is projectable.

agreed! I don't think we have a shot at Oden though.

I love how no one mentions Kevin Durant in this draft, the guy is a KG clone, he is a franchise player, look for him to change the fortunes of some team.....

Durant is closer to Rasheed Wallace than KG imo... the only prospect in this year's draft that i would trade Curry straight up for is Oden.

Not right now. Curry is showing signs. Sam Bowie was supposed to be great too. I'd rather get a complimentary PF to Curry than trade away Curry and hope Oden is real.

Assuming the trade was Curry for the #1 pick in the draft- you take Oden because for the first couple of years, he will be cheap.

Yes, he might turn into Sam Bowie or Kandiman- but Curry, even with his great play, we know what the limits are. Oden might turn into the next Shaq, might not- its a gamble. Just like the lakers did with Bynum- you roll the dice.

If you want to win in this league, you need a superstar. Curry isn't a superstar.

If Oden has a 5% chance of becoming a superstar, I trade Curry because he has no chance of becoming a superstar.

Oden is the best prospect I have seen in the last 15 years of coaching.

JMO, I think Curry is playing like an NBA superstar with no signs that he is ready to back track anytime soon. If I were the coach of this team, I'd see if I could take some of those shots OUT of Crawford's and Qs hands and into Curry's--even if the guy forces--he's 50%. He's easily the 2nd best C in the league right now.

That being said I WOULD trade him for Greg Oden. Oden, who essentially is playing basketball with one hand is going to be so good at both ends of the floor in the NBA in his prime---his team will reap the benefits of going DEEP into the playoffs on a yearly basis and winning 4-5 championships in his career[if healthy] I CANNOT say the same for curry who is an OFFENSIVE superstar who has little defensive prowless and is really a so-so rebounder. I would trade ANY player to get this guy--Lebron Wade etc...

I will say it again--there was nothing bad against acquiring Curry--I was hot over it YET I was also disturbed what we gave up for him when Chicago was offering him 20mm$ to retire and no other team was intersted. Because the Knicks dont care about $$$--we could take the risk on Curry--but who in the JR Ewing's of the world was behind the negotiations?

Durant is a better perimeter player and a more natural scorer than Rasheed. Durant has a quick release, pure jumper from at least 22 feet out. He can put the ball on the floor, can shoot off the dribble, and has a variety of ways to score. He's like a combo of KG and McGrady. No, not on that level, but the way he plays the game is similar to Tmac but he could and may be still growing.

i don't think he's as fluid on his feet as either T-Mac or KG... just my opinion... i think he'll translate more as a Rasheed Wallace type player once he hits the NBA & fills out.

Oden = Rasheed Wallace? Oden is an absolute monster. To be at Rasheed's level would be a major disappointment. I don't see it happening, but anything is possible.
