I think this Knicks team is a very balanced and deep team so I ask is there any 1 player we cant afford to lose for the season? If so who is it and why?
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

i disagree. i don't think it's balanced.

but we can't lose marbury. if we lose curry, we CAN slide frye over to center and have kato and jerome for spot duty. even malik if need be.

but without marbury and our backcourt goes to sh t.

I think that yesterday you saw the rotation Isiah will go with...possibly some games with Nate and some with Balkman (and maybe Malik). I think it will be a steady diet of 8 roation players. HOWEVER, if Q's back acts up again (which he was in some type of pain yesterday per Mike and Walt on the broadcast)

Marbury
Crawford
Q
Jeffries
Lee
Frye
Curry
8th spot (Balkman, Nate or Malik)

Maybe but our record without Marbury last season was almost indentical to it with Marbury. I think Jcraw and Qrich could handle it in that situation

I don't agree with this. If Marb goes down the backcourt will take time to adjust but a SG/PG combo of Q/Crawford is still OK.

Strangely, I think if you lose Crawford, the backcourt takes a bigger hit.

I'd be more worried about losing Curry or Lee than Marbury but I think we could handle almost anyone with our depth

we can't lose Curry... w/o Marbury, Jamal can still step in & provide scoring & dishing from the PG position.. but w/o a consistent low post offensive threat, it puts way too much pressure on our perimeter players to win games, & as Clyde likes to say, "you live by the jumpshot, you die by the jumpshot"

A team that's 5gms under .500 who have played 21 of 39 gms @ home is not a complete and balanced team.

In the words of Zeek the team can't afford to be without the savior Jeffries.

Seriously the team can't lose Lee, it's just that simple.

I don't know, I think what Lee brings to this team is huge and we don't have a player who rebounds like he does. If he ever got hurt, whose going to pick up the rebounding slack? I haven't seen anything from Curry and Frye that tells me that they will pick up the rebounding.

We are a very deep and talented team, but I feel our problem is that we are not balanced. If we put a defensive squad on the floor we have no offense and vice versa. A balanced team minimizes these issues. I think our Frontcourt has slowly becoming more balanced but is still missing an interior presence. Our backcourt has 4 guys that do the exact same thing. We aren't a better team without marbs. Our record gets slightly worse. But it doesn't really change who we are. We would still be mediocre no matter who you took off the roster.

For years we operate on this "one player away" philosophy. Every year we trade for a player or sign a coach savior that will take us to the promised land. Every trade leads more fan speculation into "who that one player/coach" is. Then we bring in these players and nothign changes. Why? Are these players horrible when they get to NY? No. It's because our team is not balanced and we are constantly asking players to perfrom in roles they aren't comfortable in. JJ as an interior defender. JJ2 as a stopper. Marbs as a franchise guy. Stevie as a side kick. Channing or David guarding SF's. Eddie as a shot blocker. Othella/Clarence and Sweetney as starting PF's. Charlie as a penetrator. Latrell and Allan as franchise guys. Make moves that balance the roster with players that compliment each other and you will see our fortunes change instantly. Until then you will have "haters" and "lovers" pretending they know how to fix the franchise.

There are obvious things we need. When the "lovers" stop worrying about who's negative and who's not they see it. When Isiah gets the stars out of his eyes, he see's it. It's not that hard to see. You have a core and you build around it with complimentary players. It's not rocket science.

The NY Knicks should be listed as day to day. If I can borrow a Forris Gump line--The NY Knicks are like a box of choclates--you never know what you are going to get. We've been extremely good at pulling out close games and beating bad teams. If we take those games out--what is this team?

If I had to take a view on the Knicks--we rely on two players Q-Rich and JC who can shoot 8-14 or 2-13 and I don't think you can have that over the long term. We can't have two 38% shooters. I'd like to see Jefferies go to the back of the line for minutes. I'd like to spread most of the minutes to Lee Frye and Curry. I'm not opposed to trading any of our young bench players at this point Nate Mardy Collins Balkman--nor am I opposed to trading Q-rich or jamal in the right deal.
I think we have a good base for a team
Curry
Frye
Lee
Marbury
Jefferies
but I'm not convinced we have the right parts to go around those guys. Now the problem is we have a guy who has a BIG BIG ego leading the team and I don't know if at this point he thinks he has his team as is--or is there a way to improve the team.
I think if we could make a good move or two--we could be a legit playoff player --no one is that great in the east, but viewing this team--we're just not good enough and way to erratic--we honestly could go either way--maybe to .500 maybe down the tubes--it's so hard to tell-but I think we can say that we are not smart enough in the backcourt at times, we arent efficient in the backcourt
the 3 position remains ????
and our team D remains suspect.

I agree with you Briggs in all aspects, especially about getting that one legit player. If this team had a legit wing who is legit on BOTH sides of the ball, I would be pretty damn confident in what this team could do.

By the way Briggy, good to see you back.

It's balanced much like the duck and the woman in Monty Python. "Therefore, a witch!!!!"

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

The question was...any one player. I'd have to say: David Lee. Marbs and Curry are our most consistant scorers. Lee is our only hustle/rebounder and double/double man.
Marbs goes down....Craw/QRich/Nate
Curry goes down....Frye/Cato/Malik
