if he's good enough at that time to realistically expect a max contract, it can only mean good things for the NY knicks... good thing is by then Marbury, Francis & Malik's contracts will be coming off the books.
he got 6 years $60 with a questionable heart issue.
dalemebert got $63.
nene got $60.
with the #'s eddy's putting up now, he WILL get the max, no doubts - no questions - and sadly, no cap.
Putting Eddy's deal in the perspective of Nene's and Dalembert's he looks like a bargain. Nene is terribly overrated, he's never averaged as many rebounds as Curry is right now which is pathetic given that's what he's being paid for, and Dalembert is a rebounder and barely a defender.
Meanwhile, Curry is putting up Yao/Gasol numbers, both guys who get the max.
Yeah, Curry will probably opt out and get the max, but that will be after four years here where hopefully he'll be a relative bargain. And, if I'm not mistaken, the summer of 09 is when we might have some cap space from Marbury and Francis being gone? Maybe Curry can wait until September '09 to renegotiate and not screw up the cap room before then? I'm not sure how that works, but it seems like players sign extensions in September all the time.
I think the way the deal is structured, we should still have cap room in 2009 - unless we have to give Lee and Frye big extensions before then, in which case we're screwed, cap-wise, at least.
