You know we've recently discussed whether Francis is going to get a buyout and the rumors persist, but after watching this team and seeing how woeful Jamal and Nate look running things when steph isn't at the point, MAYBE Isiah is not really in a hurry to send Francis away.

Francis was actually turning into a decent PG for this team. His stats were VERY GOOD overall. But, more importantly when he's healthy he'd be more capable of running the team than Nate at this point and we could keep Jamal at SG, cuz I haven't seen enough good PG play out of him. I can't believe i'm saying this, but it may be better if we keep Francis and sit Nate. It's not that I don't like Nate or have totally given up on him, but he isn't helping right now and I think if Francis is healthy is the better player for running the offense when Steph isn't. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying i'm totally in LOVE with Francis either, but in comparison to what Nate does at PG, Francis is a BIG improvement.

But will Francis be content coming off the bench?

nixluva, when Steph and Jamal are on the floor together, Jamal is the point and he's fine doing that. I missed most of the game last night, but something tells me Francis wouldn't have made things any better or worse.

There's honestly no point in having him here, and he's untradeable. Only one option...

Buying out Francis is absolutely STUPID! When he was healthy he was playing better than Steph! If his knee is not that bad bring him back and give 25min off the bench. Even with a bad knee he is a heck of a lot better than Nate.

What if Steph gets hurt?
Steph should not be playing 40min a night.32-35min/night Max! I know him and Francis aren't that great together on the court so you only play them together for 10-12min a night. When one is out the other is in!

What if Jamal has another game like last night?
Not sure why he stayed in last night. Maybe his superb defense(joking). I understand that he can get hot at any time but cmon'.

I personally like Stevie and think he's been given a raw deal here. It does not benefit us at all to cut him. If he becomes a distraction send him back to Lucas to rehab his knee for the rest of the year and deal with it over the summer!

We lost because we could not get one stop on defense. Not because of anything that was happening on offense.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

No way...Francis just holds the ball too long..pounds it some then thru the legs a few times then he shoots or he passes...totally kills the flow of the game...If he gives up the ball early in the possession then yeah maybe...Otherwise No way..

I understand that we need to play better D, but we also still need someone else to run the show when Steph isn't. Jamal may bring the ball up and he may make a good entry pass to Curry, but if that's not there, he's lost. You can see him thinking out there and not having any clue what to do. He's not talking, directing his teammates and then all he seems to come up with is to call his own number.

Francis has had his moments when he gets stuck pounding the ball, but actually he's better at running the team than Nate and you can't just have Jamal as the only other guard. Jamal isn't dependable and he's not a good defender. The issue is to replace nate with Francis so that Steph can lower his minutes. He's gonna wear down if he has to keep this up the rest of the year. Francis is ours and he's a better option if Something God forbid should happen to Steph. I think that's a HUGE reason why Isiah won't buy him out. He's more experienced than Nate and he's a stud when healthy. If his tendonitis does indeed get better he can be a big asset to this team.

He was playing better than Steph by default. It wasn't so much that Francis was that good, Marbury was just that bad. Marbury is playing at a high level right now. no need to brign Steve back to cut into his minutes and have him looking over his shoulder.

I'm fine with keeping Francis, provided we trade away Nate and Steph to get a single legit 2 guard (Ray Allen), and give either Mardy Collins or a true passing PG more of a role.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Frankly i'm surprised at some of the strong words some of you are directing at Francis. He was playing hurt for quite a while. This is why you haven't seen the explosion he usually shows going to the hole. When you take away a players legs that has a HUGE effect on how they play. For him in particular that was a problem. He did seem to start adjusting a bit and I think he did a pretty decent job when he was out there. His stats suggest that he was performing at a decent level, but more importantly he was BETTER than Nate at running the team and even better than Jamal. Nate and Jamal are scorers and left to do that they're fine, but running the team is not their strength.

Nixluva, Franchise has tried hard here. But he hasn't been the real Francis. If the real Francis ever comes back (Unlikely), then he could be a great asset, but he might also bring trouble because then he won't be happy playing behind JC, Q, or NR because he has been a much better player than they over his career.

The only way we can really talk about bringing Francis off the bench is if he is injured, but then is that really good to have him playing at 50%?

Ray Allen and Watson for Francis and Crawford. Give them Nate too if they will give the knicks cash or a pick.

Marbs and ray with Watson off the bench. Backcourt problems solved.

Then webber signs for a year and the knicks win the nba championship in 6 games against the spurs.

I'm a genius.

Can I add on? Right before the playoffs, Jerome James is cut and Ewing comes out of retirement to play backup center. In the playoffs Ewing averages 10/10/2 until the finals where he averages 25/12/4 garnering finlas MVP and getting the title he deserved.

You. Am a genius!
