If there's one thing you can't deny it's that we are way way way better than last year.

Even if it's only in bunches, at least its bunches of games - Last year we had ONE stretch.. the rest of the year it was more like.. a quarter here a quarter there.. Now we're putting together multiple stretches of good looking basketball and almost the whole year have played hard.

So hats off to the Knicks, they are improving! IM HAPPY!

Yes, with Fran gone and nate in his place the team is developing into its roles and working together.

IT takes time and there is improvement.

I agree. Francis going down was a great boost to the team. Nothing against him personally because I think he worked hard and did his best to fit in and be a positive player for the team, but his presence was affecting Marbury's ability/willingness to lead the team and really run the point. Plus, I like Nate, who is a better shooter, as our backup PG. Losing Francis solved the playing time issues and everyone seems happy with their roles, or at least, comfortable in them.

If francis were in the lineup this entire time we would be terrible, Marbury is playing much better and thats the difference between us now and at the beginning of the season.....

It was pretty clear the team would be better with a more in shape Curry that had a training camp and a healthy q in body and mind. That alone should add 5 wins to the team.....

And a more solid rotation is going to get you a few, as is the progression of the rookies

I just can't get excited. The bar has been set so low here. Improving over last year means better than 23 wins.

Ok, think of it this way. Would you go to a cafe and choose to drink:

A) mud
B) mud with a little sugar in it

Personally, I'd just choose to not drink until the cafe started offering some better drinks.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

The cafe would need a new owner...

I'm hoping we'll be better enough to finish 42-40.

Only 26 to go.

A new CEO and whoever oversees operations, yes, since the this person would have more say in choosing to offer mud as a drink. A new owner also yes, since the owner was too incompetent to realize that the person he put in charge is a moron who has been choosing to sell the customers mud soda.

You don't get credit for going from mediocre to bad and back to mediocre again.

I think this current team and Isiah has no excuse not to be good. When you turn the roster over (more than once), when you add $250mm in player payroll and have 3 years to draft and make trades you should at least be good. Good being .510 or so, good at home, a low seed in the playoffs etc.
I dont say that because of the current roster, rather just thats what $250 in new players, draft picks and FAs over 3 years should get you. Expansion teams dont spend that in 8 years.

Of course when we accomplish this feat people here will be calling for parades and an endless onslaght of "I told you so" threads. The problem that most of the "haters" have had with Isiah (I will speak for myself) is he's imposed a ceiling on this team. This is why DJ posted that "are we building a title contender" thread the other day.

We have not cap space in the future, we have no lottery picks in the future, so assuming this cast is good enough to reach that "good team" status as the Bucks and Hawks did in the late 90's what then? What happens after a few years of 5-6 seeds and getting bounced in the first round by Lebron, Dwight Howard, Billups and Arenas? What then?

I'm glad we are improving. Its better than nothing, but can anyone here honestly say this GM has planned and put consideration into the future? And actually building a title caliber or one close to it?

Building a title contender requires some ultra-mega superstars and some solid role guys. We have some guys who when they feel the love, can play like superstars (Starbury, Curry). We have solid character guys and players who know their roles in Lee and Q rich. And we have a bunch of energy guys and jokesters to keep the mood right. We're just now getting it as a team. Plus we have assets like Channing Frye who can yeild us a talent in a trade should we choose or as a wild card himself that may get better.

I think the "haters" are doing some butt-covering right now, the tune has very subtly changed from "Isiah is an utter baffoon who has made this team the laughingstock of all time" to "No matter what Isiah does, short of making us a contender, its all a con game and we're none the better off for it.

But you wanted youth and Isiah has delivered it. You wanted draft picks, but with Isiah gone, how many more Freddy Weisses would we have selected? the biggest critique I see around here is about cap room and luxury taxes. Luxury taxes i care little about, but cap room is a good argument. We would have been under the cap after this season by a smidge if Isiah had made no moves. But then, no moves, no Curry, no Curry, no franchise player. No franchise player.... No way of winning a title.

So really, what you're saying is, Isiah has brought us the franchise player that will make us a contender for years to come. You just didn't realize thats what you were saying.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Clearly, if you think this, then you haven't been reading the board for very long. But I have little interest in trying to convince the ignorant. This team was/is a laughingstock, but our complaint has always been that these moves will eventually get us to or slightly past .500, but no real chance at a championship.

That's total BS.

I for one, said from day one of Isiah, that we should all get used to mediocrity under Isiah. The fact that he went from mediocre to utter laughingstock and maybe back to mediocre, doesn't change what some of us said initially.

Secondly you really overrate this team's players based on a couple lucky wins and wins against some bad teams.
