"After last year, I think I need to step away from coaching for a while, and I'm 66. I don't know if that's what I'm looking to do."

you figure after all that happened last year and at his age, he should rightfully start questioning his place in the game and whether he wants to deal with an entire season of travelling, coaching, and plain old stress that a head coach must endure. i'm sure last year really opened his eyes, more than anything, on his age and what he needs to do as a man. he has a wife, kids, and enough money to still be involved in the game but at a much easier stress level.

some people just need to relax...and for everybody near that age, i would advise the same thing.

it was a mismatch from day one. but i don't think he feels that way if last year was succesful. battling with marbury, isiah, and dolan broke him down. and at his age, he shouldn't have to fight like that.

but if everybody was all happy happy joy joy, then i could see it working out.

it seems to me that they promised him some things and when he didn't see them start to materialize, he took out his issues with isiah on the players.

Do you write headlines for the National Enquirer?

Brown didn't say anything remotely like what you suggest is a startling admission.

Larry Brown's startling admission: I'm old and can't coach

Wow, you took an ENORMOUS leap, added your own words and presented it as fact. Congratulations, you are now qualified to be a sports media personality.

"I don't know if that's what I'm looking to do" != "can't coach"
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If that's going to be the standard then I can do some serious damage after every Isiah media session.

I get the feeling that Isiah is going to make a startling admission after the next loss.

The guy comes out and says i'm too old for caoching. He's not looking to coach. Ergo, he can't coach. If he had any balls he would have stood up to Marbury and Curry and Isiah and Dolan.

How is what i'm posting any different that the Isiah bashers posting how Curry is a bum, frye hit his ceiling, and Isiah is a retard.

Kam oversimplified what Brown said, true. He didn't say "he can't coach" but I don't get why everyone is going so crazy about it being THAT far off from the quote. He says he's "66" and needs to "step away."

Sounds like he does feel that his age was affecting his ability to coach well. If that quote is legit. Where is it coming from?...source?

Or maybe that at his age and after having gone through all that garbage last year, he doesn't need to potentially put himself in another situation like that.

What's so horrible about that?

Where's his admission that he failed as a coach last year? He was fond of saying that so often when he was here, but this is the closest to saying anything like that since.

Don't you think if Isiah's knicks were 7-29 Larry would be saying he could still coach. The man is old and embarrassed and too afraid to further tarnish his legacy.

Stating that he had lost his desire to play professional basketball, Jordan announced his retirement prior to the 1993-1994 season.

Kams interpretation: Jordan sucks and can't play anymore.

You guys are funny. With Isiah you're inconsolable simrud. Now when LB basically admits he has no place coaching anymore you resort to using dildos in your posts.

Even with what Isles said, it can be seen as somewhat of an interpretation that he has trouble with certain teams. Larry doesn't exactly deserve a free pass for last year, and I was a BIG supporter of him last year.

Andrew comparing Jordan's retirement in 1993 to Brown now is not even close. Jordan did not say that it was that his age was why he was leaving. He just wanted to leave on top.

Brown did not leave the NBA on top, my friend. He left after a HORRIFIC season with our Knicks.

The comment by kam is not saying that the person's whole career was bad, it's just saying that they may not be able to do what they used to. It has happened to many great coaches and players in all sports, and is normal. It seems that only because, I guess, some have seen kam as an anti-Larry guy that this post is bothering them. The fact is that it isn't exactly THAT off of a point.

Why did Larry say what he did then? Sounds like he is concerned about his age and ability to coach well to me. After having such a bad year, after YEARS of success turning teams around, maybe he is wondering if he is up for it anymore, or ABLE to do it. It's not out of the realm of possiblity folks.
