Channing playing C off the bench would help give the speed unit a servicable outside shooter to accompany a driving Balkman and Nate. Plus, Channing can get down the floor a lot faster than Curry and he is better on the break than James and Curry.
I also feel that Channing is more active defensively at centre, he is more apt to try to swat away opposing shots from that position.

I've always felt Frye should be coming off the bench. I think playing against teams backups would really boost his confidence and give his game the chance to grow that it needs.

It seems like Frye will not evolve in to a significant threat while on the same floor as Marbury and Curry... he is not a David Lee type that can make something out of garbage oppertunities.

I have always maintained for the Knicks to take the next step Frye has to come into his own as a power forward...He has to play the position with reckless abandon...he has to play the inside/out game he possess...He is the only guy on the roster that can give the position presence defensively...he can block a few shots...If frye doesn't make that step the Knicks does not improve to the next level...

The thing is this. If Frye is the first center off the bench, he's going to get about 10 minutes a game, since Eddie is getting big time minutes lately and we all know that Channing is best suited at the center position. Therefore, is he best as trade bait? Or is Curry the trade bait?

I've BEEN saying this. It makes sense for a lot of reasons.

It gives us 2 scorers off the bench, one outside, one inside.

It lets Lee start.... I might even let Frye play backup PF and let Kato play backup Center. Here is my ideal 10 man plan

Curry/Kato
Lee/Frye
Qrich/Balkman
Jamal/Jeffries
Marbury/Nate

Obviously Kato/Balkman get less minutes than the rest.. but that covers all positions.. and you have flexability..

Who's in favor of getting a good defensive minded, role player center and bringing Curry in off the bench until he decides to get in shape and play defense?

we already have a defensive minded role playing C named Cato... if he's not starting games now, what makes anyone think someone like Steven Hunter or anyone of that ilk would be?

or is the idea to bring in overpaid, underachieving talent like Erick Dampier or Sam Dalembert in order to fix this franchise?

name me some players you think would be a better choice right now for this rebuilding franchise Bonn... some REALISTIC ones... & don't give me names like Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudamire, Emeka Okafor, etc.

First explain what you mean by "fix this franchise." Right now I don't understand the question.

"right the ship", "fix the franchise"... u know... i'm asking you who you think would be the realistic option to put into that "defensive minded role playing C to start over Curry" that you feel would result in this team winning more games... do u have one in mind or are u just making general comments here? i don't see a guy like Dampier, Dalembert, Foyle, or any other shotblocking bigman who's realistically attainable coming in here & improving this team over having Curry start at the C spot to be honest.

Out of your examples, we obviously disagree but I'd say yes to starting Dampier or Dalember for two reasons: (a) I think we'll get plenty of scoring anyway from the team and we desperately need interior defense; (b)If we're keeping Curry long-term, I think it's in his and the team's long-term interests to be given a message that he has to earn the starting spot by getting in shape and playing better on defense. At a minimum, that means always moving your feet and always having your hands in the air not picking your nose. That should have been the approach with him from day 1 IMO.

i happen to think the opposite would happen if you brought in a guy to compete w/Eddy for minutes... he'd probably become disinterested & lose motivation to fight for minutes... right now he's working hard to improve his game & it's evident in the results he's putting up... why mess w/that now? bring in a defensive stud to play alongside him at 1 of the F spots & have D Lee play the other... that would be the best option.

I still say start Curry, Frye and Lee. Make Jefferies the first big off the bench for all three positions, unless we're playing Shaq.

The best option would be to get rid of everyone not on a rookie contract on this team and start all over
