I thought he was pretty good Briggs. He got a few things wrong though, which of course, is from not having to watch games THAT closely in awhile. I think he'd be a very good commentator if he worked on it just a little bit.

I wasn't too impressed. Didn't see the whole game, but from what I caught I heard a lot of cliches and not much insight. I know it was his first try and all, but I don't get much out of hearing him tell me "that was a good play" or "this is a good game" or "that was a bad call," especially without going any deeper-- I can go to a bar and hear the same stuff. Definitely prefer Kerr and Collins. But at least Barkley wasn't a sieve sucking entertainment value from the game like Breen.

When the Knicks are on the road and Kenny Smith is commentating, I either mute and listen to the radio or go out to a bar – he is that bad in my opinion.

the only good thing Kenny Smith contributed to the telecasts this year was Nate's 49 cent nickname.

Anyone thinks Chuck can outrun Bavetta?

Kenny Smith is olny interested in telling corny azz stories and unfunny jokes. Who the hell brought a rocker in to broadcats knick games anyway?

I agree on Kenny Smith. Outside of his funny nicknames, and a good zinger every now and then I think he is horrendous as a commentator.
I just hope that people will like me

Kenny Smith to me is decent, nothing special. I honestly thought Barkely was God awful. He makes good points, but there were times when he was too fixated on certain things.

Kenny Smith usually picks one saying and says it over and over for the entire game. He is pretty bad. But not nearly as bad as Gus. Either way, Clyde is the man, everybody doing color will look bad compared to him.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Yeah, Clyde is fun to listen to. Back to Sir Charles:

I can't count how many times he would say: "Brian Cook is way too inconsistent.", "Briant cook has a great jump shot." "Come on young fella!! (Bynum) BE MORE AGGRESIVE!!!!!!!", "Kobe is playing great just passing and he'll be KOBE anytime." "I'm faster than any 67 year old man." "Mike Bibby has been fantastic, and the rest of the Kings haven't."

That's pretty much all he said. lol

Jet always works with breen, so he spends most of the game arguing and bickering back and forth with breen. That I'm pretty much sick of.

I wish breen would go to hell and take channing frye with him.

Mark Jackson has a monotone voice. Listening to him is painfull. I'd take Kenny the Jet any day over Jackson, besides he's a New Yorker too.

I thought Barkley was funny. What I like most about him is how comfortable he is being himself. If he were to do that regularly he should consider learning the rules, so he can help guide you through game ending strategy. His takes on individual players I thought were pretty accurate. And him challenging Bavetta to a race is what makes the NBA on TNT a great TV show as well as a way to watch an NBA game. Making Marv put up with Barkley for three hours was also excellent.

yeah, his voice isn't the most pleasant thing to listen to, but give me a guy who makes salient points having to do w/the game & intelligent analysis over a cheesy 1 liner wannabe DefJam comedian anyday.

Sounds like he is picking style over substance. I actually like Mark Jackson and I think he would be a good color guy. I also liked Greg Anthony but I don't think Zeke will let him do broadcasts with the Knicks anytime soon. Patrick Ewing also did some color for the Summer games, he would be a good candidate.

Patrick Ewing on color commentary... oh brother... maybe we can match him up w/John Starks... that would be an interesting duo to listen to.
