What Riley can't coach the team when Shaq and Wade aren't playing?

The guy is an A+ *******.

Sources: Heat coach Riley to take leave
ESPN.com news services

Miami Heat coach Pat Riley will take a leave of absence, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday, citing unnamed league sources.

According to ESPN's Hank Goldberg, Riley will have surgery on his right knee and hip and plans to return to the bench. The team was expected to hold a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

According to the newspaper, Riley informed the team of the decision on Wednesday morning. Assistant Ron Rothstein will coach the team in his absence.

The Heat are scheduled to play the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday before embarking on a six-game Western road trip.

The Heat, who have been without center Shaquille O'Neal, are off to a 13-17 start and currently out of the top eight in the Eastern Conference.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

After getting the Title why not to take a year off?
The live is only given to us once.
Shaq, Wade, and Pat will come back next year.
Heat will also get some better supporting stuff and here we do again.

Didn't Ron Rothstein coach the Heat a few years ago? Back when they had Smith, Rice, Long, Seikaly, Shaw?

Timing is everything. Anyone think it's a coincidence that this is occuring while the Heat are adding up the L's? Pat knows Shaq will be back in a week or two, then once he gets back into game shape, old Pat will be right back on the sidelines, adding those W's to his career win/loss record. He's an egomaniac who can't handle this career record going in the other direction.

I suppose he should put off his knee surgery till the playoffs eh.

What is the point of him being with the team right now? To coach a bunch of 3rd string players to loosing by 10 instead of 25? Who cares.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

riley is sorry. just does'nt want to tarnish his win/loss record. can that guy even win without at least two allstars on his team? first he kicked stan to the curb, 'cause he probably did'nt think he could do it, now this. "hey stan, i have a feeling this could be another championship run. aahhh, we're gonna have to send you....to the basement." yeah, don't forget your stapler you little bitch!

If your the coach, your the coach. It seems like when the going gets tough, Riley gets going with this heat team.
