so i'm watching minny vs. charlotte yesterday on league pass. and i see this play over and over again: kg posts up on the high post (at the elbow extended). the guard gives him the ball and then cuts to the basket. kg keeps the ball over his head, then dumps it off to the guard for a layup.

why don't we run that play with frye and marbury/jamal?

Marbury and Jamal like to sit on the perimeter and watch?

Our problem is that we don't have great passing big men. Neither Frye nor Curry have shown that they are anything other than very average at passing. Lee is better at passing, but is not as tall. IT's hope is that Jeffries can be that faciliator at 6'11", which is one of the reasons he insists on starting him. I am reserving judgment on Jeffries for a few more games to give IT time to figure out how he can best fit within the offense. Really the guy has played only 3-4 games the whole year.

There was a small point in time where we doing that with Frye/Marbury last year....made me think that we could run the high post around Frye as our offense. Than both Marbury and Frye got hurt and neither really has come back to the way they were playing before that.

I'd like to answer that, but I can't expect you to understand what the Knicks are trying to do like Isiah and I understand it.

from a poster at realgm:
I never wanted this guy ... I even went to the Wizards forum as soon as that *signing* was made to find out why they let him go and find a positive , all I found out is he freezes up, misses open shots and tips ins like yesterday, his defense is not worth 5.2 per year and this is a horrible acquisition, P.S. every one was saying his departure would strike the Wizards off the NBA playoff race well Washington is 17 -13 w/o him , 3rd best in the Eastern Conference, 5 -1 vs their division , 11 - 3 at home, 8 - 2 in their last 10 games, 107 PPG, yeh big freaking difference.

WAS 4.7 BPG vs NY's 3.7 BPG, Washington ranked #5 in the East in SPG while NY is ranked #11 This guy is Jerome James part 2

I think Frye can be a good passer BTW. He was a competent to above average passer at Arizona and I thought he flashed at times last year. But he doesn't get put into a position to pass as a jump shooter/catch and shoot guy. If he started in the high/low post and had cutters around him he'd have more opportunity to pass.

I'd really like to hear nixluva break it down for us. He was so adamant that this offense was designed to bring out the best in everyone on the team, but our guards in particular. He couldn't believe anyone had diminished expectations for this club, be it coaching, chemistry, rotations, motivation etc.

What up 'luva. You were dying to "bring the hammer down" on all the doubters. What are you waiting for?

Curry did that exact play multiple times early in the season to Francis. None of our other guards cut. The first time he did it to francis they ran it so fast it looked like a qb faking a handoff to a rb. Our guards make it so easy to double. Not only cant they hit an outside shot, not only do they refuse to cut, not only do they refuse to clear out but they also have no concept of spacing.
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

He even called the people who disagreed with him (yours truly) not Knick fans because we weren't faithful on the garbage that Isiah spews.

Come on Nix, where's that hammer?

DJ. the give and go is a BAsketball play, a fundemantal play, when I was in HS that was something we practiced every day. Just like Boxing out, Free throws, bounce passes, mid range shots, moving your feet. all of these things although simple, require discipline and commitment. This leads to the answer to your question. We have about 5 players on this team, maybe 6 tops that seem to understand this, and about 3 who actually seem like they work at it..... Sounds simple, but look at what you are dealing with. How many times has Jamal been called for a palming violation, yet he does it time after time, even after he has been whisteled for it the previous posession. How many times has curry been beat to the basket by the likes of Nazr and Okafor, when all he has to do is find his man and put a body on them, yet he drifts and walks towards the basket with his head up, arms down and his body on nothing.... As much as I love frye, how many times does he look for the cutter, before launching his own shot. Lee, malik rose, Jeffries, and Q are about the only guys, who look up, cut, and box out on a regular basis. Add balkman to that list also..
Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF
