Thomas talked philosophically about the next important piece the club needs in his rebuilding vision - adding an elite perimeter shooter to pair with Curry.

"You definitely have to change your way of thinking (because of Curry's emergence)," Thomas said. "Now you got to get a shooter. You got to get guys who can knock down shots. It's in the way you look at the draft and everything else. Now you got a rock to build around and start piecing things together."

But Thomas believes he needs another perimeter threat in the mold of Allan Houston, who retired during last season's training camp.

Thomas' remarks were direct hits at the streaky outside shooting abilities of the starting backcourt of Jamal Crawford and Stephon Marbury.

Both are shooting under 40 percent from the field, less than 30 percent from the 3-point line - which is atrocious.

Despite averaging 16.6 points, Crawford is shooting 38.5 percent (29.1 percent from behind the arc). Marbury is averaging 13 points, but shooting 39.5 percent (29.5 percent on treys).

"It would be better for (Curry) when you have Richardson and Robinson - a real threat who can make a shot - as opposed to, 'We'll take our chances and live and die with it'," Thomas said.

"When Richardson is out on the floor, Robinson, we got real guys who can knock down shots. Then it's a real difference."

Shockingly, Thomas considers Lee no more an offensive threat than Jeffries. "I think they're both the same offensive threat, which is not much," Thomas said.

so isiah's saying that we need better gaurds around eddy. and that jj and david bring nothing to the table offensively. what was that thing about team policy again...

I'll take a guy who can give me 10-11 pts on 62.5% shooting in 30 minutes who apparently represents zero offensive threat. How you can look at Lee's offensive game ( a guy who takes and makes high percentage shots and moves the ball) vs. Jeffries ( a liability who can't shoot and can't make FT's), and call them the same kind of threat is beyond me.

Well, when your guards shoot below 30% from three they should be knocked. That is ridiculous. At least IT is now seeing the problems, the question is whether he has the solutions. I think this was his latest stab at motivating Crawford and Marbury to shoot better. It would also help if he taught Curry how to pass effectively out of the double team.

he's also saying that without quentin and nate (who magically have transformed into ray allen and oscar robertson) that we probably won't win for the rest of the trip.

I agree, but it would help even more if the players would cut to the basket when Eddy is being doubled. Too many times I see players standing around or running away from the ball as opposed to cutting nto the lane.

Anyone else sick of listening to Isiah quell exectations?

Coach Brown was expected to do a lot better because he had such a good team to work with.

But people shouldn't expect much from Coach Isiah because the talent he has just isn't good enough.

Isiah is such a scumbag.

I agree with that too. The players don't go out of their way to make themselves available to Curry.

what the ****.. Lee is WAY better offensively than Jeffries you cant be serious.

Lee Finishes around the hoop with the best of them. Jeffries does not.

Lee can knock down a 15 foot jumper. Jeffries can not.

Lee Shoots 80% from the FT Line. Jeffries will never.

Isiah is drunk. Dolan is too.

Yeah, I would agree that Lee is a better offensive player than Jeffries. That being said, Lee is still very average as an offensive threat but I think he will be get better.

very average yes but not to the point where he does nothing for you on one side of the court. You can leave Jeffries totally uncovered and double curry while if you do that with Lee he is going to burn you on the offensive glass. I dont think Jeffries can really be on the floor at the same time as Curry unless he learns how to Cut and curry can consistantly hit him for layups... NOT LIKELY

plus, guys on other teams like Arenas and Jamison make so much money because they're so good so when they are on, there's really very little our Knicks can do to stop them.

Isiah has violated team policy by talking disparagingly about his players in the media, not only that, by doing so he is ruining these players trade value by talking about their weaknesses.

The guy is just a joke, if he doesn't like the players on the roster, then he should look at himself in the mirror and say to himself "I did a sh!t job of putting this team together" because in reality he has. I'm glad that our coach/gm/president JUST got that the memo that Crawford and Marbury are streaky players and that they can't be relied on as players that knockdown a jumper from outside.

And honestly, what the hell does Isiah have against David Lee? The guy is OBVIOUSLY bashing him in the media and he's been one of the few players who have put up, instead of shutting up, to try and save this idiots job! How has Isiah repayed Lee? He plays him whacked out minutes, which most of the time have no rhyme or reason to them. Isiah's been here 4 seasons now, the team absolutely SUCKS, we have no lottery pick and we're still in salary cap hell.
