HELL NO...lee will be something special in a few years, artest is arguably not even worth the headache...maybe frye and nate, but i dont even know about that trade. Imagine how crazy artest would go being back in NY.

I can totally see Isiah doing it just b/c it's so boneheaded. No way in hell should the Knicks do that.

Man, it's been so long since I last posted that I forgot my username ... but fear not, I finally remembered.

If Isiah does that deal and gives up Lee, I am officially renouncing my Knicks fanship after around 30 years.

Not even Isiah is stupid enough to do that deal. I wouldn't even trade Frye for Artest.

It's not that complicated: You keep Frye, Lee and Curry, and build around what will soon be an elite front line.

Yes, we have work to do. We obviously need help in the backcourt, and need pure shooters who can knock down shots and keep defenses honest.

But importing a guy like Artest at the expense of our budding frontcourt is not a step in the right direction, and I am pretty sure Isiah is aware of this.

No. This team does not need any more distractions and Artest would be the mother of all distractions. We need less media coverage, not more.

Plus, I really like Lee. We have two potential defensive stoppers already at SF in Jeffries and Balkman. But we only really have one above average rebounder and that's Lee (I think Balkman can be above average also if given minutes). We need Lee more than we need Artest.

I wouldn't make this trade either(at least not one that would include Lee) but I hate the idea of having 2 players (jeffries and Balk) that only play on one side of the ball at a highly skilled position.

I don't disagree. I am hopeful that Balkman can develop some offensive skills because I really think that in 2-3 years, he will be a better player than Jeffries. If Artest was not a headcase, you would have to consider the trade, but with the way Artest is, I have serious reservations about trading Lee for him.

i wouldn't. i can't possibly see artest working out with a building squad in ny. he needs to become a rental player for contending teams. plus the guy's now shooting a career low 38%. i think we'd end up regretting big-time bringing him in here.

Nope. THey are trying to dump Artest and they were talking about Maggette being equal value. WOuld trade those players for Maggette??? Indy trade him to rent Peja for half a season. Frye, Nate and Q, Hell NO!!!

They have a pick, one of Nate/Balkman/Collins and Q. THat's a way better deal then Maggette. IF they want to dump keeny thomas too, the knicks would even take him on instead of giving up the pick or the youngen. THey aren't getting Frye and Nate.

Too much and I probably overvalue Artest anyway. I'd trade Frye and filler for him though.

He hasn't been able to get comfortable in that Sac offense. I still think he's a building piece, but obviously you're building on shaky foundation with him. Honestly I value Lee more than a package of Frye+Nate at this point, but I still don't think I might be willing to deal Frye/Nate/Q for him. I'd do Frye+Q if we could dump a bad contract like James with them. I'd do Q+Nate for him in a second if they were somehow willing to accept that.
