PHILADELPHIA - Steve Francis returned from right knee tendinitis last night on an emergency basis, and he looked and felt like someone who came back too soon.
"This was the first time I ran in 19 days," said Francis, who had nine points and two assists in 16 minutes. "... I felt like I was out there for two hours."
The team has only two other guards available because of the suspensions of Nate Robinson and Mardy Collins.
Francis said before the game that the tendinitis won't completely clear up until he gets two or three months to rest it during the offseason. Although the second opinion he recently received did not reveal any loose cartilage or indicate that surgery is required, his return could be temporary.
"I've got to go back on the shelf," Francis said. "I've got to get healthy."
I don't know what he has, but surgery is an option and if he is going to sit for two or three months in a season with only 4 months left...... he is talking like he will get his knee cleaned and shut it down for the year.
It looks to me like the portion you bolded states that they looked for a cartilage injury (Which I have too) which is at least treatable/correctable by surgery, while tendinitis is not (That I know of.), and they did not find it.
I don't know for sure that what Francis has is tendinitis, it could be a lot of things.
