Where is this kind of gamemanship on our roster now ?

This piece made me get chills !!!!

Marbury should change his number because he doesn't measure up to the heart of a john starks.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

He represented in so many ways. Damn, to have another guard like Starks, you never know, we did sign him from the NBDL, isn't that right?

But, I feel some of these young guys are going to make a name for themselves. We don't have any that play his position, but I look forward to seeing what Lee and Balkman will bring to the floor without numbers. Pure energy, hustle and the unquantifiable.

Well no can argue that LEE and Balkman are IT best move since Mcgrady. They may not be as talanted, but they play there part to a T.

We signed him from the CBA.

Only players that are hungry are the 1st yr guys and rookies, because the vets make so much jack that they aren't as hungry anymore.

Bring back Frank Williams

When wearing a Knicks uniform meant something to players. Man, I miss those times... We are really a joke now...

Great Video Dude, The Garden was Rocking. I love starks, I almost cried when the traded him. I might be the only Knick Fan that was not mad at him for the Finals.

when i run the tread mill, i always put in old knick games and the game i was watching yesterday ironically was "the dunk" game with starks. that team was just great and if we had a team like that today, they would win championships. the game was definately more physical and harder to get shots off. it is like night and day comparing the team in the 90's to the team now.

I can't let a thread like this go by without chiming in.

Think of the core players we had back then: Starks, Oak, Mason, Ewing, even Doc and Harper. These guys had as much heart as anyone else in those days. Then you toss in the fact that Riley was a great coach and motivator, and you can see why they were so successful despite not being all that talented. Ewing was obviously a franchise player, but no one else was really of serious All-Star caliber. But they worked as a team and played as tough a defense as any team you'll find.

Yeah, maybe instead of watching this current team, I should just kill the 2 1/2 hours by watching tapes of the dozens of Knicks-Bulls and Knicks-Pacers games I have from back then.

I remembered when he was with the Spurs (training camp) and looked awesome. I could not understand why they cut him. Then he went to Golden state and Nellie raved about him but cut him also after like 30 games. We need to find some new players in the ndbl or europe. We need some real guards
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

well, both of those teams were guard heavy anyway, especially golden state with run tmc ( sa had kenny the jet and mario elie at the time). starks came very close to being cut on our team until he got injured trying to dunk over ewing and so we were forced to put him on the ir. he was a determined player who had things bounce right for him to success as well as wiht mason ( even though mason let his attitude flush his career down the toilet).

I think you may be confusing SA with Houston. Kenny Smith never played for the Spurs. Mario Ellie did later play for the Spurs many years later but not when Starks was trying out

I'm all for that, but if you're gonna do that, throw Curry and JJ2 to the list.

I would take you more serious if you weren't campaigning for John Wallace the same way a few years back, lol.

I've seen that clip before. It's on the "NBA Upsets and Underdogs" video. I used to have it. They have a clip of the '99 Knicks too.
