sometimes I feel there are posters on this board who would rather they be proven right about a trade or roster move being a bad decision by Isiah in order to earn bragging rights on an internet sports message board of their 'vast basketball knowledge' than seeing that player in question actually succeed in a Knicks uniform.

anyone else get that feeling or is it just me?

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at but at the same time I guess you could say there are some here who would be ok if this team finished 24-58, as long as it produced a playoff appearance bettering LB's last season so they can be proved right.

TMS, you weren't trying to prove you were right when you created the whole Kenyon Martin trade or no-trade thread making?

dude, that was a thread created because i wanted to trade for KMart & wanted to see who agreed w/me... obviously i was wrong on that one... do i have a problem admitting when i'm wrong? i don't think i ever have... do you ever see me making threads 10 times a day citing Eddy Curry's statlines or Marcus Williams or Andrew Bynum or whoever else you want to throw in there so people can pat me on the back about how right i was about knocking the move? i don't think so.

I didn't say you had a problem admitting when you were wrong. I just thought it was funny that you were complaining about people needed to be proved right and that I remembered you doing the same thing.

Guess I was offbase. My bad.

is there a difference between the 2? i don't see my KMart thread as me trying to prove myself to be right, but if that's how you saw it so be it i guess.

my 1st post on the thread:
Yes, I know alot of you hate the idea of taking the risk on damaged goods... let's not debate the issue again on this thread... i just want to see who's in favor of trading Mo T, Malik or Steve Francis for KMart next year... you all know where i stand on this issue... anyone else with me?

I'm with you. But that doesn't just happen in this forum. And it's bigger than basketball. Its probably how we are all wired inside. Its human nature, but the internet makes it harder to be human. So we stick to stubborn beliefs because someone can drag up 'proof' from a prior post about how we felt. Hehehe as if people shouldn't be able to change their minds.

There's too much garbage online. So much so that it makes sense that we should want to establish credibility. But as long as we realize when we're becoming caricatures of ourselves and know when to dial it back to center, we should all be all right.

To bring it back here to the Knicks, I have a pre-set belief, more of a hope, that the Knicks will improve under the current regime. i don't want to see regime change here. THerefore I could be said to support the current regime. And I do... but I have to make sure i don't become blind to the faults of the team just to support Isiah.

The haters, the supporters... we are all one. Its the same for all of us, in the end we all want Knick success. We have to fight our worse nature to also be proven right when the Knicks succeed.

Peace on Earth to all... Happy holidays everyone.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

With Eddy Curry, I think those threads are because people are upset by how awful he is at everything except scoring in the post. I don't think it has anything to do with trying to prove yourself right. I post in that thread because I hate the way Eddy plays even though I was more wrong than anyone in supporting that trade. I didn't even make a big deal out of not lottery protecting the picks. I wish Isiah had known more than I did.

Being "right" has always been part of what this message board (or any other sports message board) is about for many guys on any side of any argument you care to name.

I've been visiting this board consistently for a couple of years now without ever posting. Partly because you guys and ladies seem to have it all covered. Partly because having an on line community seemed odd to me until very recently. What makes sports team obsession so powerful is that you have an idea of what the team has meant in the past, what it could be in the future, and when you are living it in the present you just want everyone to do so damn well.

Francis was my least favorite player in the league 'til he became a Knick. Now I am eager to be impressed by anything positive he can do, and his attitude this season has won me over. Could the Knicks do better at that position? Hell yeah. But I don't believe that opinion will make me a hater.

Everyone here seems to love the Knicks. That's the vibe I've gotten. (Except of course from Islesfan) Sure it's great to be a genius and know better than everybody else. But I think people want to be considered genuises here because they respect the other posters' opinions and truly love the knicks. And they want some support because when you walk around thinking about the Knicks all the time you can feel insane until you arrive here and discover you're not alone.

anyway, that's how it has seemed to me when I was a fly on the wall. Now I'm a fly in the ointment. (Future posts will be shorter. Peace

I both agree and disagree, to be (non)specific. I think it's more frustration with the team and a desperate desire for change. Pointing out all the teams flaws is a way of saying that many of us have given up on any team run by Isiah Thomas. Some of us have also completely given up on any team owned by James Dolan. So, until the change comes, the negativity is found with it. People want to be right, yes, but I think the constantly drilling home the point of how bad our situation is with the hope that Isiah Thomas will be gone and we can finally rejoice again.

Larry might've stole Nate's joy, but Isiah took the fans joy.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Deep Thoughts

If John Smith was replaced as captain of The Titanic during the maiden voyage, in the middle of The Atlantic (division pun intended), would the majestic ship still have struck the iceberg?

Or would they have slowed down, corrected the course and made it to port safely?

Hmmm....

If Dolan owned the shipping company he would have not only given Smith an extended contract, he'd have made him manager of the entire fleet, while the ship was sinking.
