With all this talk about us needing a shooter, a real 2 guard going on I have been thinking lately about players who would fill that void and Ray Allen kept poppin in my head but I wasn't sure if Seattle would part with him.

With Rashard Lewis now out for up to 2 months Seattle's out of the playoff picture out west!

We have to make a play for Allen!

I wish we still had at least one of those expiring contracts cause I believe we could definately get a deal done but since we don't here's the deal we offer up!

Nate, Crawford and M.Rose for Allen! Do you do it? Do you think Seattle would do it?

Nate and Crawford are from the area so the fans would love it and Rose is a throw in to make contracts add up.

STARTERS
Curry
Frye
Jeffries
Allen
Marbury

Bench
Lee
Q
Francis
Balkman

That is a team folks! A well balanced one! And very versatile! About the only thing were missing is a rugged power Forward who blocks shots and we can fill that via the draft!

You continue to pound the ball into Curry and when they start doubling him leaving Ray open it'd be over! We would be contenders in the east right away without sacrificing to much of our future!

Get it done Isiah!

Doubtful they want to take on the additional $$. We'd also probably have to give up picks -- I guess it comes down to how many fans Seattle thinks Nate and Craw could draw in.

I'd make the offer and move on. The last thing we need is Isiah giving up Lee or 2 more first rounders.

Marbury and Allen backcourt? That's an even worse defensive backcourt than Marbury/Francis!

I'd be willing to be aggressive and use our Bulls pick to get my deal done.
Crawford, Nate, Rose and Collins for Ray Allen and Watson.... Sonics would save 30million with this trade as well.

I wouldn't include any picks- but, I could see the sonics liking that deal- saves them big money.

I don't believe his D is that horrible!

Doesn't matter it is the exact type of move we need to make!

It's not about Youth Vs. Experience, it's about coming up with the right blend of players.

I have been pulling for a Ray Allen trade for a while. Ray Allen add a bona fide star to the team, even though he is injured right now, he is coming off his best season. He is a go-to type of player, he has unlimited range, and I don't think he is as bad on D as made out to be above.

***

My original Ray Allen trade proposal was Steve Francis and Jamal Crawford for Allen.

With Francis' injury, it might have to be Crawford/Robinson for Allen. I call my new scenario the "Seattle Connection" since Robinson and Crawford are from Seattle.

I'm a little leery of ditching Jamal now. He has the best chemistry of all with our center and I'm not sure you want to break something that's working right now.

I know it's Ray Allen and he's a sniper but.... Not too sure we should throw Jamal away yet.

That's the danger/allure of Crawford. He tantalizes you with his talent just oozing and his big plays and great games.

But we're talking Ray Allen here! That is a chance you gotta take!

If we trade Robinson and Crawford and get Allen, then all of a sudden Francis, Q, and Collins have a true role on the team: Q and Francis are the quite capable backups, and Collins is the "small -minutes" guard being developed.

I would prefer someone younger too, but who might be available that can give us that true shooter dimension and level of play?

Having a true shooter always give a team a chance. Look at the Knicks with Allan Houston.

Then I would stand pat. He makes almost twice as much as Crawford, and his contract is a year longer than Marbury's and Francis's. I think it makes sense to set 08-09 as the time horizon when the team can get under the cap.

When craw is on his game he plays very similiar to ray Allen.

Its just when craw plays bad. We all wanna throw him to the sharks.

Craw has been playing great as the starter and I think he deserves a shot at remaining the starter when the missing guys come back. Francis should be the back up. Q should also be on the bench behind Jared.

Is it at all possible that Seattle is more receptive to trading Ray with Rashard Lewis being out for 2 months with his latest injury? They might be willing to tear it down and the Knicks have 2 guys in Jamal and Nate that are from the Seattle area that could spur interest in Seattle fans. It would be something worth considering and trading for Ray Allen is something that I've brought up in the past. Lets get it done.

Nate's roll in the denver fight has me really thinking about whether he can ever 'get it'. Its improved, I think, his play making abilities setting up others.

I guess if we were to put this kind of trade offer out there- I'd ask Seattle to include a 1st round pick as well- we're sending them youth and cap relief- granted, for a great player, but one who has been injured a lot- heck, I'd make the pick contingent on him being healthy and have it not triggered for 2-3 years.

Chemistry with Curry is definitely an issue- but lets face it, with Ray Allen on our squad, we wouldn't be facing any more zones.
