Lee right now is averaging about the same amount of points and more rebounds in less minutes than this board's favorite rookie in 2005 Andrew Bogut.

Do people think that Bogut is still a good #1 draft pick and better than Lee?

Drafting Lee at 30 was the biggest steal in 2005.

Bogut - 31 min; 11 pts; 8 boards; 3 assts; 56% (fg)
Lee --- 29 min; 11 pts; 10 boards; 1.5 assts; 64% (fg)

It's an easy choice. Lee's better.

Who gets better over the years? Who has a better work ethic? I think it's going to be Lee.

1. Chris Paul
2. Deron Williams
3. David Lee
4. Villanueva
5. Felton
6. Granger

Guys like Marvin Williams, Gerald Green, and Bynum all have superstar potential but nobody can argue we got a huge steal at #30. To tell you the truth, to this point, we probably got 3 of the top 12 guys in that draft but doesn't seem like that great of a class.

6. Granger

Nobody thought Granger was going to fall that far, and everyone KILLED Toronto for picking Villanueva. Interesting...

I think Isaih really did an amazing job for that draft. Frye as it turns out was not a bad pick it looks like. I think IT saw the talent and committed to drafting him and probably came pretty close to selecting Brynum if you ask me but in the end he liked Frye too much and had already made a promise to him and decided to stick with Frye. Supposedly I think he wanted to trade for an extra pick to get Brynum right? Besides for that, you can't really blame him for the Nate pick. Besides for Lee who we have anyway, I would probably rather have Nate than any other of the remaining players in the draft except for Monta Ellis who I didn't know much about at the time.

Anyway, his biggest fault could be perhaps not finding a way to trade up to grab one of those 3 point guards. Probably was too difficult but all 3 of them are going to be great. Can you imagine if he would have been able to trade the Frye pick, Nate pick and an expiring contract or something in order to get the rights to draft deron williams or Paul. That would have been the greatest. But i'll settle for those 3.

Didnt some people around here project Bogut to be as good, or better than, Kevin Garnett? Anyway Zeke's recent draft history hasnt received the appropriate pub.

in bogut's defense, he gets the ball more to score on his own. lee does'nt try to create his own shot too often. bogut also gets more double teams in the post. with that being said....LEE.

Well... we can compare their numbers directly, the extra 3-4 inches Bogut has over Lee is an interesting intangible. A 7 footer contesting a shot is a little different from a 6'9ish guy contesting a shot.

Lee has been surprisingly good. He looks like a lock for a ticket to the rookie-soph game... and if he manages to come off the bench enough, the 6th man of the year award. And he's a strong candidate for most improved.

He has the makings of a career starter. He doesn't have the sheer offensive game of a superstar, but he seems to have the intangibles necessary to earn him big minutes.

It's interesting reading how he'd project. USA Today said his upside was Antonio Davis; his downside was Joe Smith.

Hindsight is of course 20-20. But, in retrospect, a great draft with those picks, would have been Bynum, Ellis and Lee.

Lee is my favorite Knick, but if picking players out of a pile to build a team I'm taking Bogut. Bogut's having a decent season and he's a center.

What would be REALLY nice would be to have both. A Bogut/Lee front line would be nice.

Best moves

Draft: Finding David Lee with the last pick of the first round. Former Knick Jalen Rose said last month that Lee is "hands down the best player on the team."
