David Lee is incredible -- he didn't have a good game at all and still somehow pulls down 19 rebounds and has that game winning tip. He looked tired, I thought he should've had 25 boards but was getting beat off the floor by Emeka and others. There was one play where he had an easy rebound and let Othella out hustle him and then Lee threw it out of bounds trying to save it. With that being said, the guy is the glue to this team -- he hit two big free throws when we needed them in ot, he pulled down 19 boards, drew a big charge, and had the amazing tip -- he's the type of guy that every team needs and would have fit in perfectly with the Knicks of the 90s. The guy should play 40 mins a night, period. He would put up Rodman rebounding numbers given the mins. The best thing about him is he works so hard on his game -- the free throw shooting has drastically improved from last year and it isn't long before that jumper is developed.
Frye and Curry both had good games on offense. Frye is starting to show signs of toughness on the defensive end while also blocking shots. I'd really be interested to see Curry's trade value especially if we paired him with Nate. I think a frontline of Frye, Lee, and Jefferies would suit this team much better especially on the defensive end.
Cato should play 15 to 20 mpg -- he gives this team so much on defense. It just makes it so clear how bad Curry is on the defensive side. It's encouraging that Isiah didn't play his disaster free agent signing, JJ, a minute and gave them to Cato as he earned them in the Utah game.
Marbury had a good game. He is really trying on the defensive end and did an ok job on Felton as he's a pretty tough cover. Felton, on the other hand, is exactly what this team needs. A pass first pg, floor leader, plays great d.
Crawford played pretty well for 3/4 of regulation -- he was controlled, looking to get in the paint and dish or hit the midrange shot, and only took catch and shoot 3's. However, in the 4th he reverted back to his old self. This guy needs a Larry Brown type coach in the worst way to keep him in check. Has all star ability that will never be put to use -- shows the importance of going to school and learning from some of the best college coaches.
If Balkman works as hard as Lee in the offseason and can somehow develop a 3 pointer ala Bruce Bowen, the guy will be extremely valuable.
