Anthony, the ESPN commentator who's been a harsh critic of Isiah Thomas, said the Knicks showed no toughness by inciting a brawl with 1:15 left while being blown out of the Garden by the Nuggets. Anthony himself was involved in fisticuffs during a playoff series vs. the Bulls.

"The league was far more physical than it is today," Anthony told The Post. "That led to more confrontational situations. Those confrontational situations were out of competitiveness, with teams that had a legit chance to win championships, and we were fighting for that. It's all relative. We were playing for the highest stakes - a lot more than the stakes the Knicks are playing for."

Honestly i liked Greg when he played for us mainly because he had a cool looking jump shot lol and he gave me a gatoraide once at SUNY Purchase but hearing him speak is extreemly annoying. I cant stand listening to him on ESPN. What hes saying is prolly accurate and justified tho..... when will we get some credibility back??? I hope like Isiah says once we get in that possition we will step on other teams pretty hard like they are doing to us.

Maybe the team is not all that thrilled playing for Isiah's survival as opposed to winning for prides sake.

Winning is winning, but maybe its too much about Isiah?

Elite,

Its tough to be a fan and be objective. Greg actually decribed this pretty good, but he is now a talking head and must have a strong opinion on EVERYTING. It gets annoying.

So Greg Anthony sucker punching KJ while in civilian clothes was out of competitiveness?

I agree with his message for the most part, just disagree with the messenger.

Come on, the shirt made that fight. :)

Honestly, Zeke took some warranted and unwarranted shots at GA a few weeks back (he shouldn't bust on him b/c he was a Knick) so I'm not surprised.

When we start winning.

I liked it better when the NBA world hated us b/c we won a lot.

i really don't think Greg Anthony should be critical of fighting in the NBA when he played on 1 of the most notorious "tough guy" teams of alltime... i think what he said was pretty fair, but like another poster said, probably not the best person to have made the comment... & the last bit about the Knicks not playing for anything seems like a little dig to me, maybe i'm just reading too much into it.

He's not critical of fighting in general vs the bases on which fights break out.

Greg doesn't have much time left with his credibility. Pretty soon when Greg says "I'm sure", the response will be:

Are you Renaldo Balkman sure or just sure?

I read the same thing. Definitely taking a dig at Isiah. The funny thing is, I usually agree with alot of the things Greg has to say about basketball in general and I believe i could make a pretty good GM down the road.

I know a bunch of people are going to flame me for this and ask me the following questions"

"how is he qualified"
"what has he done to earn a GM spot"
"how do you know he'll be better than Isiah"

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't know the answers to any of those questions, but I think Greg Anthony would be a good direction to go for us as a GM. He seems very bright and I would like to see what he could do as GM of the Knicks.

Hey, it honestly can't get any worse, no matter what ANY of you think about Isiah. It can't get worse.

I have no problem with what he said. I still think the foul by Mardy was gutless. I think we have some pretend tough guys on this team. I also think that the league has changed. We will get credibility back when we start winning... not by being thugs because we're bitter that another team creamed us.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Greg Anthony was a retard when he played for the knicks. He found his game once he left.

As a knick he was flat out terrible. His jumpshot was retarded looking and used to scrape paint off the rim. He only had one hand on the dribble and would almost completely spaz out if he tried to make a lay-up. When he got in the game you couldn't wait till he got out and would have prefered starks run the team if the regular starter was out.

Remember the Reggie miller play where he lost his footing on the biggest play of the night and maybe of all time at msg? Reggie pushed him but not as much as Anthony just completely spazzed.

As a commentator, he is good and on the money. He's becoming a know it all like breen and myself for that matter, lol.

It's personal between him and Isaiah. Everything either says about the other has no value to anyone else.

I like Greg Anthony as an announcer. Intelligent, insightful. As a player though, he was one of the biggest punks. And never really did much in the NBA after being the mouth on one of the best college teams ever. In fact, the only one that did anything from that team was LJ, before he hurt his back. Anthony and Plastic Man were average in the NBA. Don't even remember the others much.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

I remember that tool Anthony most for this play sequence...

Knicks are inbounding in the 4th

Reggie shoves Anthony as the ball is released in-bounds

Miller intercepts pass and backs to the 3pt line (baseline)

Miller sinks dagger (8pts in 8 seconds)

Thanks Greg, now please fall under a bus.
