what sense does it make to stick up for your team mate in a major brawl that involves fist throwing, knowing that the minute you do that your going to get suspended and you team will suffer anyway.

Is that like robbing a bank to feed your family in broad day light in front of 50 cops.

The difference is that the reaction to a brawl is done in the heat of passion, while someone who robs a bank has the time to think about how they should execute the plan.

Not a great analogy, sorry. Robbing a bank to feed your family is a stupid decision with no upside. (I.e. cops arrest you, you don't keep the money, family doesn't get fed). In the NBA, smart players know there's many ways you can stick up for a teammate without throwing a punch.

The probelm is Rich that the fight had a chance to die down twice. The players had time to think rationally and did not. This led to them hurting their teams instead of helping. It was more about false bravado than anything else. Again I can understand Mardy losing his head and tackling Smith. I can understand Smith being angry and reacting. I can understand Jeffries going after Melo after seeing his teammate get sucker punched. But Nate and Carmelo weren't protecting anyone but their own egos.

Even if I didn't know you were one, that post right there tells me you are lawyer. Its funny. Sounds like something McCoy would say in Law and Order. Do you watch that show man? McCoy is a cool lawyer.
