Briggs, I know at the time of the Curry trade you were one of the few with the foresight to kill Isiah about not protecting those picks. You said we should've included Lee instead of the picks.

Now clearly, those picks should have been protected regardless, but you also seem to be very high on Lee, so I was just curious to see if you would rather have the picks or Lee assuming it's not Oden we give up in next years draft?

Almost everyone said that there had to be at least top three protection, especially with this year's pick.

Not top 3 protecting those picks is asinine. But it's over
I just hope that people will like me

If we lose Oden, it will never be over.

Right now we have the 5th worst record in the NBA... hopefully that will improve before the end of this season.

If we top three protected the big, we could have traded Curry/Frye and got some much needed pieces....

We would have had Roye/Foye/Thomas to go with Lee/Balkman/Jefferies makes you want to cry, that Isiah thought the knicks were gonna do good

Even if he was right that the Knicks would have had a better record, he still messed up because players could get hurt.

if we insisted on top 3 protecting the pick, right now our team would've been:

C - Frye / Turd
PF - Lee / Aldridge or Ty? / Sweetney
SF - Jefferies / Balkman
SG - Q Rich / Jamal
PG - Marbury / Nate / Collins
IA - Francis / Malik

w/a projected #3 - #5 seed in the lottery this season (since i'm assuming we'd have a little bit worse record than we have now)

not that much of a difference imo... i'd rather take what Curry's showing me at this point... if the Knicks end up winning the lottery this season then obviously that changes everything.

Anytime I've added David Lee into a transaction, I should've also inserted my foot into my mouth. Are there players after Oden who will be better than Lee? There are certainly high-level players like Durant Noah Wright that have huge huge upsides[this is one helluva draft coming up] but even if they were eventually a superior player than Lee--I would not trade Lee for them. I think Lee has developed into a Derek Jeter--maybe not the talent level[yet?] but clearly a player who is the rock of the Knick organization for the next ten years--someone who wears the Knicks colors you are proud of. It's to bad that we didn't have protection on our picks--it was a poor negotiation.

Lee = Jeter

Not a terrible comparison.

Lee = 0 rings

Jeter = 4 rings

let's stay away from Jeter comparisons for now, shall we?

Without a talented supporting cast, Jeter would have 0 rings. That's where Lee is now.

Lee is an intangible player with decent tangibles that seems to make big plays at the right time.

Very fitting, I think too. Doubt he will continue to come off the bench if he plays like this, just seems criminal. Isiah will have to adjust.

Lee is a big part of the glue on this team. But let's not overlook some other players and the season is young.

no doubt can't argue with you there... but it's like comparing Jeter to David Wright as far as i'm concerned... talented players who will be cornerstones for their respective franchises for many years, but as far as getting it done in the postseason & proving yourself to be 1 of the greatest postseason performers of alltime is a different thing altogether... i'm not saying Lee won't prove to be 1 of those special types of players... so far he's looking like 1 of those guys every championship team seems to have... but til he proves himself i'm not putting him on that pedestal just yet.

This is getting off topic, but I see Wright as being more like A-Rod. I'm a Yanee fan, but ability wise, Wright has much more talent that Jeter.

David Wright talent wise can't hold a candle to ARod, please... intangibles are another story, but even there he can't be put on Jeter's level just yet either.

i agree, he's a very good player... ARod is an alltime great & 1st ballot HOFer... there's really no comparison here, & i'm not taking anything away from Wright... just gotta look at the back of their baseball cards & there's really nothing to debate on it.
