I don't know about some of you but I am sick of writers/reporters trying to make a story instead of reporting the stories. I could not believe the amount of sports anchors/writers/reporters seemingly trying to influence the outcome punishment-wise of Saturdays incident. Most of them tried their best to get Isiah some kind of suspension. Everyone knows that coaches in all levels of sports and baseball managers "send messages" to the other teams for various reasons. I feel that
Isiah may have influenced Mardy to give a hard foul but there was no way he could know that a brawl would erupt. Most hard fouls and given and taken with a little trash talking or pushing and then it's usually over. Reporters, writers and sports anchors should stick to reporting and stop trying to make and influence news or situations.

I agree that the media has tried their hardest to create controversy with this brawl, as if fighting in sports never happens. I think in my lifetime ive seen dozens of brawls on tv that were worse than one in which one open-handed punch was thrown.

Remember a couple weeks back when the back page of the dailynews said something ot the effect of "isiah insults fans intelligence" and then you read the article and there was nothing of the sort? Well that pretyt much sums up the new york media.

Travla you are dead on! It's ridiculous!

I wouldn't of even had to have a coach tell me to foul JR Smith hard, real hard, after he had just done a 360 dunk a few possesions before! It should be a given! I would have knocked him on his ass anyway!

I am also pretty sure that just about every other coach in the nba would expect their player to foul someone hard in that situation.

Now just because JR Smith and especially Carmelo are fake ass thugs and have to try and act tough by reacting like that isn't our fault!

You want nothing to escalate into what this did but there were at least 5 baseball brawls this past year that were just as bad. This is part of sports! Always has been!

But look at this board. 75% of the topics are related to this brawl. It sells papers, makes you watch sportscenter etc etc Thats why they blow this crap up more than they really should!

Don't hold back, how do you really feel about it?

They write for such highly respected papers such as the Post and the Daily News. What do you expect?

They hate the Knicks, so hateful comments from those so-called beat writers don't come as a surprise to me. I expect no better from them, as rabid as some of them have become.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Travla - thank you

As a result of the daily barrage of negative press opinion, many people have stopped thinking for themselves.

I counted 29, yes 29, Knicks-related articles today alone, many still about the "fight" and its horrible effect on society.

Meanwhile, Ultimate Fighting garners huge ratings numbers.

"Isiah Insults Fans"

"Zeke's Punks"

and the all-timer... "Good Riddance" for Patrick Ewing

Watch how the game is being played

Are the Knicks showing even the slightest bit of a step in the right direction ON THE FLOOR?

Do they support one another?

Do they play with passion?

Think for yourselves

I've just seen too much of this. There have been times when the sports leagues didn't even know that an infraction had occurred, the sports anchors would basically let people know that they caught something on tape and then it would be looked into and dealt with.
I actually believe that they have people reviewing tape to find stories. Sports anchors want to be news reporters, they should go into the news field where they'd probably fail.

Most of these sportswriters etc.. never played a sport passed the 8th grade so their is a HUGE gap in terms of their actual first-hand knowledge of sport compared to the pro athlete. To grab attention--and that is what the media does right?--that is how they get PAID--these writers will go to extremes--from one end to the other just to sell papers.
