here is player A's #'s:

here is player B's #'s:
age min ppg ast reb stl to fg% 3fg% ft%
21 25 11.1 4.3 2.2 1.5 2.3 39.0 33.9 81.7
22 32 11.3 3.3 2.7 1.0 1.9 34.9 31.6 91.9
23 33 13.9 3.8 2.1 1.3 2.2 38.6 36.2 91.3
24 23 8.6 3.0 2.6 0.8 1.9 33.7 17.1 84.1
25 23 9.3 3.4 2.1 0.7 1.4 42.3 37.6 84.2
26 29 12.5 5.5 2.8 0.8 1.7 42.3 39.4 88.5

28 35 16.9 5.7 3.5 1.1 2.4 44.3 42.6 89.8
29 36 18.5 8.6 3.1 0.9 2.1 41.8 43.3 89.4
you can see, at the age of 25, player A and player B are very comparable. and it looked like player A was making a similar upswing as player B but this year, he took a step back.
here are their stats this year:
age min ppg ast reb stl to fg% 3fg% ft%
26 34 15.3 3.7 2.9 1.0 2.3 38.6 28.7 78.6
30 37 18.3 8.2 3.0 1.2 2.4 44.2 37.5 88.7
player A: jamal crawford
player B: chauncy billups
if jamal applies himself and gets the right coaching, he could end up being a chauncy billups type player. i don't feel he could ever become that offensive orchestrator and get everyone involved but he could be a more controlled ball handler and can function within a structured offense. the key words of course are "controlled" and "structured" b/c god knows the kid needs control and structure.
