Iverson's a 1st ballot HOFer still putting up 30 & 10 type #'s on a regular basis & has been 1 of the most durable G's in the game over his career... Baron Davis is still playing at a high level, but he's an injury machine... Biedrins is a nice young player, but that package isn't worth more than Iverson imho.

Baron Davis isn't exactly the posterchild for team player either... i think it's pretty much the best package they can get at this point because of how devalued Iverson's become over the way the Sixers have handled this whole mess, but no way in hell is it a comparable package for the level of player the Warriors will be getting in AI imo.

Sixers KILL in that deal. That's worth more than Iverson. Great deal for Philly if they get it.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

It is when you consider A.I. only has 2yrs left on his deal after this season. If he's unhappy he most certainly will want to bolt or kill any value he'd have left at that point. Baron is younger although same deal as A.I. and Biedrins is a potential stud. IMO Sixers benefit the most.

and 25 shots a game. That's now how I'd want a PG (or any player) to run an offense

Right. AI is a good player to have, if you're trying to fill up a stat sheet. He's lost a step or two and who knows how many great years he'll have left. Furthermore, his teams haven't been a winning team for a long time, and I don't think GS winds up in any better shape than Philly is after that trade, so in my mind, GS is on crack if they think AI fixes everything for them.

I disagree. Jason Richardson alone is the best talent that AI would have ever played with in his NBA career. Add in Pietrus, Monta Ellis, Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, thats a good team.

Baron Davis can't hold a candle to AI even if he's healthy... Biedrins? he's got some good upside, but is he much better than David Lee at this point? that's debateable to me... AI's only good to fill up stat sheets? he's at least taken his team to the NBA Finals... where has Baron Davis ever taken his team? has anyone EVER questioned Allen Iverson's effort on the floor or his heart or will to win games? don't think the same can be said about Baron Davis... & he's signed to a max contract to the same amount of years besides... if i'm an NBA GM i'd much rather have AI who i can count on to give me a good amount of games played over that span rather than BD who hasn't played a good stretch of games for the past several years for all the money he's been paid over that span.

i really don't think the Sixers make out better in this trade, but it's probably the best they can get at this point.

Please. Dikembe Mutombo.

They're in better shape than the Sixers, okay, but what does it all get them? 8th slot in the playoffs?

And Dunleavy STILL sucks. Barf.

i think AI turns GS into a playoff contender. but i don't personally think jrich is a huge upgrade over andre iguodala. but i really haven't seen much of GS at all so i'm not wedded to that uninformed opinion.

IMO, that trade still leaves AI trying to carry a team into the postseason himself.

my own scenario: what about AI to the clips for cassell* and maggette? i think that gives both teams killer lineups. maybe a pick to the clips to even it out.

LAC: iverson/livingston/quint ross?/brand (perfect AI sidekick)/kaman
philly: cassell/iguodala/mags/webber/dalembert

*can't be traded until 12/15. maybe i'm right and that's why AI hasn't been moved yet...

Wha?! I don't think Iverson's lost a step.
He's still as effective as ever. Unlike most NBA players, Iverson never bulked up... so he's still carrying around the same weight he did in college. Most NBA guys bulk up, lose some hops and quickness.

What Golden State would gain is a leader who's taken his team to the NBA finals and an unbelievable scoring threat... perfect for the Nellie system.

The big negative on Baron Davis is the sheer # of injuries the guy has sustained over the past few seasons. He's practically a lock to miss 15-20 games/year. He's also had many of the same negative criticisms as Iverson. He's a few years younger, but I think his body's beaten up.

I'm not convinced Biedrins is all that-- he's performing well, but hey, even Chris Mihm & Joel Pryzbilla have had outstanding stretches. So have underwhelming big men like Eric Montross, Rasho Nesterovic, and Luc Longley. It may be too early to tell if he can sustain these numbers before breaking down.
