Thomas feels a little better

December
13

Isiah Thomas feels a little better this morning about his tenuous future with the Knicks.

The clip file was especially thick, and that’s because Knicks owner James Dolan spent the afternoon visiting with the media. He didn’t clear up a cloudy picture, but there were plenty of hints the organization is heading in the right direction.

Thomas read every word.

And was he pleased with what he saw?

“Yes,” Thomas said this morning at shoot-around. “There are a lot of positive signs here and it’s comforting to know that hasn’t gone unnoticed by him, in terms of player development and the energy and effort we play with. Now we have to improve the intelligence we play with, but a lot of that comes with experience. But it’s good to hear and see that he sees some positives, but there are some things we definitely need to continue working on.”

A couple of items from the extra-long session:

• Instead of running for the door, the Knicks were shooting extra free throws after hearing Thomas deliver a message about the importance of success from the line.

•To get more defense on the floor at the opening tip, Thomas plans to move Jared Jeffries into the starting lineup and bring David Lee off the bench. “It’ll give us a chance to put our two best players on the floor to start,” Thomas said, meaning Jeffries and Quentin Richardson. “Hopefully, we can shave some points off the first quarter because we constantly go down 10 or 15 points.”

JJ is one of our two best players?
Has Isiah been watching Lee at all this season?

I am sure he will look like a genius tonight snce they have non of their players in the game. No joe Johnson or Josh Childress. Just because you have to start Steph all this happens.

Whatever happened to all that talk about benching Marbury or Francis? I knew it was too good to be true...

"Benched" means you don't play

Larry benched Lee

Isiah has given him plenty of minutes and wil continue to do so

what's the problem?

that is true. he's not benched. his role has been "re-defined."

it's tough b/c david didn't lose the starting job.

dj - I know it's tough

Tough times call for tough decisions

Personally, I'd like to see Lee as backup center

Don't be surprised to see

Lee

Frye

Jeffries

Jamal

Nate

in a tasty uptempo shiftline

you heard it here first

this really is a byproduct of isiah having to start steph.

otherwise the starting lineup would be jamal, q, jj, lee, curry.

and i think frye is the backup center when he comes back.

dj - if Isiah really wanted to impress me he'd make Stephon a sixth man type.

but it will never happen

start Mardy!

This is absolutely ridiculous, its almost laughable. David Lee has been the Knicks second best player this year behind Eddy Curry and he's losing his starting spot to Jared Jeffries?

DJ just hit in on the head, Isiah's loyalty to Stephon Marbury has killed the Knicks before and its killing the Knicks again. Jamal should be starting at PG, QRich at SG, Jeffries at SF, Lee at PF and Curry at Center but since Isiah can't swallow his own pride, Marbury, Frye and Jeffries will play and start no matter what.

LOL! JJ and Q ahead of Curry as the 2 best players? Interesting.

For an apologist comment...

Does Zeke mean Important instead of Best?

and if he does

Back to being a pessimist hater...

Is a low post scorer on this team not as important?

I like your lineup nyk4

Jamal should be starting at PG, QRich at SG, Jeffries at SF, Lee at PF and Curry at Center

I wish Frye could play some shooting guard

Say what you will about that old weasel Larry Brown (and I have), but he got Jamal under control by having him run the point for long stretches last season. And you can't deny the chemistry between Jamal and Eddy.

That said, add me to the list of people who think Lee shouldn't be demoted or "having his role redefined" or whatever.

And add me to list of people who think Mardy needs to play.

Isiah is referring to 2 best defensive players in that quote.

I hope this doesn't affect Curry's production in anyway.

Although lee has been one of our best players, he was a key part of our rough start last game. He left Scalaweenie open for 3 consecutive three pointers. As much as I love him, he needs to be held accountable for that.
