Lovers and Apologists

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=251104018

Very first home game of last yr and the second game of the season.

Just minutes after the Madison Square Garden crowd gave the Brooklyn native a loud ovation during pregame introductions, the Knicks were booed off the court after falling behind by 19 points.

Last yr the Lovers didn't notice it because Larry was Hated Enemy #1. Now that Larry's gone the Lovers want the fans to stop booing because it accomplishes nothing.

I decided to link this thread because of all the references I found in regards to the booing at the Garden. Pretty astounding actually

we know the booing isn't new, but it is worse. No one in their right minds I hope feel that booing is the only reason we lose at home, but it is hard to deny that it is a factor somewhat. We all understand the nature of booing, but now the booing when a guy walks on the court, before he does anything is a joke, booing after he misses a shot is a joke.

Yes, I believe they did. It's also been implied many times that the booing situation is unique to this season; it's not. As always, it's been simple, play with intensity and win some games and the fans cheer. Play like heartless slugs and lose games because you didn't put a full 48 minutes worth of effort and get booed. It's always been that way in the Garden. The problem is we have more gutless slugs than we used to. Lee, Balkman, Q, Nate, etc... usually don't get booed. They put out the effort. When they make a mistake, they keep trying hard. Our gutless slugs forget about the team aspect, are lazy on defense and then go to the bench and sulk or put a towel on their heads. Then our gutless slug of a coach refuses to admit that anything went wrong. The Knicks should be called the Gutless Slugs.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

People booed Red Holzmans Knicks into timeouts after sluggish play

But they cheered when they broke the huddle

That's the difference

Those legendary Knicks were loved with tough love

This is like speaking to a spanish person that doesn't know english......... just the very meaning of point less!!!

Let's see if I come up with a list of situations you shouldn't(not can't) BOO and some things you can:
YOur 24 year Center Works very hard putting the other teams front into fould trouble. He also earns a trip to the foul line Early in the game. YOU SHOULD BOO HIM IF HE GOES 1-1 at the LINE!!!! BEING 6'11 the BEST HE WILL EVERY BE IS A 65 percent SHOOTER..... easy right

The Knicks fall down by 15 plus in the first quarter........ BOO away.

THE knicks start the game down 5 to 16............. Not such a good time to Boo.

THe knicks are up 19 points and give 15 back in the forth........ NOt a good time to Boo.

The Knicks are 3 poinst and get out scored by 15 in the fourth............ GReat time to Boo.

The is getting a lot of bad bounces while forcing the issue or being aggressive.... bad time to BOO

THe Team is being out muscled and out hustled all game long...... great time to Boo

Not making open shots......BAd

Taking terrible shot... Good

Team is 4-5 or 5-6 when they do't see you.......... Bad time to BOO

Team is 3-9 on the road............ Great time to Boo

Ect......

Hope this helps, I know it won't....... Go knicks Go, get the winning so the bandwagoners can shut the HELL UP!!!!

Do you Boo the moment the ball is released as Patrick was booed for shooting jumpers?

Wasn't Oak booed the same way?

Or do you wait for the result?

Let's Boo all Knicks draft picks that don't rate high on someones mock draft

Let's boo the firing of Marv Albert

Let's boo the fact that hot dogs cost $7.50

Let's boo the PA Announcer trying to make fake energy on his player names

Let's Boo canned special effects that don't fit a basketball game

Let's Boo the fact the old home white warm up jackets were probably too expensive to clean and are not worn in The Garden anymore

Let's Boo no-shows

Let's Boo people who don't watch the game

We understand that. Stop making it seem as we don't understand that if you play well, you get cheers and if you stink you get boos. We are confused when
A) a player such as marbury plays hard, scores, hustles, dives for a lose ball, he gets cheered. then he shoots and misses a shot and gets booed. and before that, he is booed during introductions..

B) when a team is hot and we are defending and trying and the team is just playing well, why do we hear boos then?

that is all we are asking.....

It's a lost cause with Steph. It's over for him here. The fans just don't want the guy here anymore.

A) There's no mystery as to why Marbury gets booed. His anti-team, "me first" attitude have killed his rep here. He has practically daily comments to the media. He's a target because he makes himself one. He's been a cancer everywhere he's been, NY included. The fans don't like him... his time here is done.

B) This hasn't happened all season. When the other team is 'playing well', it usually coincides with us playing 'quite poorly'. I can't recall a situation all season where we played well, yet just got creamed for a stretch of minutes. We're getting booed because we're NOT doing the things you're saying, including playing defense and trying. The guys who go out there and try (who are in the minority) are not the ones who get booed.

It's like talking to a Brick Wall. Of all the things that could have come up this yr in regards to excuses the fans is one I never ever ever ever ever ever ever would have thought to be used. And Better yet have ones in defense of this excuse. The culture continues to sink that's for sure.

Heavily agree. The funny part is many of the guys who defend Isiah to the death are the sames ones who despised Layden. So you can't even call it pure Knicks love either. I don't know what you call this. Kool-aid just seems too nice a term. The excuses are getting pathetic and predictable. One reason I can't wait for the end of the Isiah era is hopefully we get a GM that this group aren't so IN LOVE WITH and maybe they can start being reasonable again.

Gag me with a spoon...... only thing that is funny is a season from now guys like you will encourage these players more then you discourage them with constance booing if Isiah is gone. WHile the "kool-aid" peeples still won't Boo the players for the coach they have or the owner or Larry Browns terrible season or missing some free throws..........

I don't know what your talking about since half your posts are indecipherable. I'll say this though, clearly we're thinking to the future. We just can't see how settling for a future team that peaks at .500 is much of one.
