In my opinion Dolan did a very good job with Slats and the Rangers. Slats came to a team with a empty farm system. Slats has always been a guy that built thru the farm. With dolan Slats signed some big name fa that didnt get the job done but slats was doing an excellant job rebuilding our farm at the same time. The fire slats chants came from people that barely know hockey. Then in 2004 Dolan let Slats have a total firesale. He traded 80% of the roster for draft picks and prospects. They finished the 2004 season with almost nobody on the roster. Then when the strike was over we only started 2005 with 2 players from 2004. Jagr and Kaspar. We bought out Holik. Now the Rangers are in a great position for the future with a good club and a stocked farm system. By not giving in to the fire slats chants he gave our future a chance. I'm very excited about our future. Our farm system is really loaded.

I am not sure about Dolan involvment personally but Rangers organization is in very good shape.
I am old Rangers fan and was rooting for them all the time when they was down in the bottom of NHL with highest payroll, bunch of broken down stars and ever changing couching. Sounds familiar???

They turn it around using the lockout break in one year by dumping all long term contract and bringing in a bunch of projects and young players. They however signed one superstar in Jagr and he was brilliant for them in the first year of their turnaround by showing the leadership, work ethics and greatness. He accepted the captain role this year and this is a huge accomplishment in hockey and for Rangers taking it over from Messier
Now they added more wets in Shanahan, etc. but the team concept is hard work, comradely, defense, and team play.
They have great couch - leader and very good person.
They have only 2 players with 2 years contracts and most of them chip. They have a bunch of top level prospects playing in Wolfpack farm club and in all over the place in Europe. 50% of players are Czechs, Russian, Sweden, Slovaks
Their goly is 23, world chapm, and playing on highest level
Team is on top of division together with Devils and 4th in Conference with +6 record.

All in all Dolan is getting big $$$ and will get even more from the rising rangers and can care less about the Knicks
But he saw how this can be done - rebuilt, young players, low payroll, short contracts, team concept, leadership.
Believe me IT is very close to garbage can

I see a lot of people say that but Slats traded 90% of our vets for draft picks and prospects in the winter of 2003. That is before the strike ever happened. He also traded for Jagr in the winter of 2003 which was before the stirke. He even got Washington to pay for half of Jagrs contract. Slats have been drafting very well since his first year as Rangers GM.

OMG Mike and the Mad dog are idiots. They are yelling that white people are not interested in the NBA. Thats so stupid. These guys are a joke.

Dolan did a horrible job with the Rangers and Glen "If I had the Rangers payroll I'd win the Cup every year" Sather.

He got lucky with the lockout, the brand new CBA that stopped them from starphucking and Jagr deciding to start playing again.

Payroll is not winning the Cup. And yes you need some luck.
But you must be able to use you luck...
