Potential trade still topic for discussion
By Shira Springer, Globe Staff | December 12, 2006

NEW YORK -- With Sixers general manager Billy King eager to trade Allen Iverson, a deal could be done by the time the Celtics play Philadelphia tomorrow night at the Wachovia Center. According to a league source, the Celtics remain on the list of teams in contention for Iverson's services, along with Golden State, Minnesota, Indiana, Chicago, Denver, Charlotte, Sacramento, Dallas, and the Clippers. According to another league source, Golden State is the front-runner, offering a package that would include guard Baron Davis and a couple of young players.

I told you guys GS was the team, he could never play in the eastern conf

it all depends on who those young players are... i had a feeling it would be either SAC or GS that would be getting Iverson... they have the pieces to give back & the contracts to match, plus the fact they're not conference rivals... the Bulls & T'Wolves probably make the best matches from a logical standpoint, but the Bulls don't have the contracts to match & are a conference rival, & the TWolves don't really have the talent to match & only garbage contracts to give back.

For a while Monday, the 76ers were close to solving their Allen Iverson problem. The Sixers, according to a source, were close to sending Iverson to the Charlotte Bobcats for a package of players Monday afternoon. But Iverson indicated his displeasure with being sent to the Bobcats - the league's newest team, having begun play in 2004 - and the deal died, the source said.

Sounds like the Clippers might be offering Maggette and Shaun Livingston. I think thats clearly the best deal out there.

With the new CBA nobody wants to take on the burden of his contract to gut their own team for young talent.

Iverson will sit a home for a long time , unless the sixers are ready to take on garbage for him.

Philly is the team that's suffering , every other team is gonna wait until the sixers say yes to their garbage or end of the yr dump off contracts.

Plus it will be a team in the west who receives Iversons services and that's "IF" he gets traded. 76ERS JUST MIGHT MAKE HIM STAY HOME FOREVER.
Ron Artest situation gave other nba gm's the blueprint on how to deal with an unsolveable case. STAY HOME!

Clippers want Iverson, for Corey Maggette and others, but not Shaun Livingston. Nuggets want Iverson for Nene, Kenyon Martin, others. Sixers don't want K-Mart. Celtics want Iverson, offering a bunch of young players plus Theo Ratliff, but not Gerald Green. Timberwolves still want Iverson. Warriors, Pacers also in running. But Sixers don't want Stephen Jackson

"Iverson has a salary of $17.1 million this season. He's owed $19 million next season and $20.8 million in 2008-09. The 10-year veteran has the right to terminate the final year of his contract and become a free agent."

With the expiring contracts of Corliss Williamson, Vitaly Potapenko, and Maurice Taylor, plus a coveted point guard in Mike Bibby, Sacramento appeared as well positioned as anyone to make a deal work. Either Maloof is blowing smoke or trying to cover up the fact that Iverson doesn't want to play in Sacramento."

Look for sixer to get back garbage, or AI will have a long vacation sitting at the crib being a stay at home daddy.
