At 8-14, the Knicks lead the Atlantic in victories, and are 0.5 games out of first place behind the Nets (7-12).

Amazing. Toronto, whose fortunes looked to be on the way up after beating the Knicks, have since lost 3 straight to tie with the Knicks in the standings (7-13).

Also... looking around the league, the Knicks aren't the only team that's had a rough going at home. Boston sports an identical 3-8 record at home, and the defending champs, Miami, are at 3-6.

Tonight's game vs Boston is going to be big. Injuries seem to have helped stabilize each team's deep rotations and made decisions easier for the coaches. On the Celtics end, Al Jefferson finally broke loose, dropping 29/14 on the Nets a few nights ago. For the season he's averaging 11/8 in only 24 minutes-- plus he had that emergency appendectomy to slow him down.

Worst division in all of sports. Scary. Just think what the records would be if they didn't get games against each other.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Sometimes its better to be lucky than good, and being in the Atlantic division is great for a young team trying to make the playoffs. The only team that I would say may really be better than us is NJ and that is because they have a balanced roster with very experienced players. If we can get in a few wins against NJ, we have a real chance on winning the Atlantic Division and getting a playoff spot.

The Nets are likely a .500+ team, despite getting out of the gates slowly. I don't think we have too great a shot at .500, so right now I think we're still on the outside looking in. But, if the Nets don't turn it on, there's always a chance.

Knicks have the most losses and that's all that matters at this point, considering they have played more games and the losses are in the books. Tonight's game is an important one.

I remember a couple seasons ago being at 16-13 and top of the division. I printed off those standings. God I miss the top.

The funny thing is that we've only played 3 games against the Atlantic. We're 1-2 so far. We've actually played some good teams so far. SA, Hou and Clev a total of 6 games. We went 1-5 against those teams who have higher than .600 winning percentages. The good thing is that we were actually competitive in those games and we weren't yet playing very well. I think we're going to get stronger and I think we're going to become a much tougher team to beat. I'm not as worried about NJ. They have a brutal schedule coming up. It's gonna be light for the next 2 games and then they finish Dec. with 4 back to backs against GOOD teams. They do have a lot of home games which could help. The thing is they face 10 games in 15 days:

@Tor - vs Det (back to back)
vs GSW
vs Cle
vs LAL - @Mil
@Det - vs Hou
@Mia - vs Min

Then in Jan. they have 10 road games and only 5 home. They also have a 5 game Western swing. I know the Nets are a tough and talented team, but I just wonder how they'll handle such a tough schedule, over 2 months.

That's disgusting. I'm no satisfied being close to first place but having that God awful record. I'd rather be in the lottery. Talk about Fools Gold.

why would you rather be in the lottery when the Bulls are getting our pick this year?

The only line of logic would be if you thought the Bulls were also a lottery team (doubtful), and so if both teams made the lottery, the Knicks still get a lottery pick.

Other than that, no idea.

Das true, but it still doesn't hide the fact that we're a crappy bball team if we make it into the playoffs, 10 games under .500. Isiah and his supporters will be beating their chest red, however.

I agree, in that I'd rather see the Knicks 10 games over .500, have a great season working their arses off and not making the playoffs. Then being 10 games under .500 and making the playoffs because the division stinks. Winning is the most valuable thing we can learn to do right now. Playoffs will come as we improve over the years but right now we should not be short sighted. Win games, and let the rest take care of itself. I know we think differently as fans and just want to see playoffs, but I just hope as a team we are setting our goals higher.
I just hope that people will like me

An optimistic way to look at the Atlantic division is to believe the Knicks are one of the few teams that can and should improve with Jeffries and Frye comming back from injuries. Add to that the fact that Curry has been playig great ball and he continues, the Khicks should get better.

On the other hand, Philly is in disaray, Toronto has a tough stretch comming up and Boston hasn't shown any signs of getting it together. IF the knicks can take care of business at home, they can put some distance between them and the rest of the titanic division (except for the nets of course, who I expect to turn it around soon). Basically, its the race to 500.

The Knicks will win...just making the Garden a hostile place for them to play. The team is 4-5 on the road, which shows they are a pretty decent team. The so-called true Knick fans never gave this guys a chance to play there game here, jumping on them at every opportunity. This team will be all right if the Garden gave them a chance...

It's good to know that the reason for the Knicks losing is the fans. It's nice to see that accountability isn't something Isiah instills in his players either (much like shotblocking). The fans eat this right up.

Add another loss in the column. Most losses in the Gaglantic. They also lost to a division foe and have lost to them 2 on their home floor.
