Successful Scenario
Due to New York and Philadelphia being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and Philadelphia had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

we get rid of 2 guards and AI will get the nod for starting two with crawford backeing both spots......we free channing frye and dlee will start and be backed up by dalembert who is a good shot blocker...... we get booby jones who is a terrific defender so our 3 spot is a defenseive spot

we look like this

pg:starbury/jcraw/mardy
sg:AI/jcraw/mardy/jones
SF:Q RICH/jeffries/jones/balkman
PF:DLEE/dalembert/balkman
C:CURRY/dalembert//balkman

we dont get webber and we start dlee
we dont tradeq who has been like a mentor to curry not bad

doubt we could pull that off, but if we did i'd like to cut marbury and see how mardy does starting with AI. i think he can play an aaron mckie type role - no way marbs and AI can co-exist in the backcourt. otherwise i think AI would fit nicely with a pass first/defensive point guard, guys like qrich and dlee, and a post presence like curry.

I love Bobby Jones. I like Dalembert next to Curry. Personally I would prefer to give up Venombury as opposed to giving up Francis. I would HATE giving up Q. I would like to see a deal a little more like this:

New York Trade Breakdown
Outgoing

Stephon Marbury
6-2 PG from Georgia Tech
16.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 6.4 apg in 36.6 minutes

Malik Rose
6-7 PF from Drexel
4.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 0.9 apg in 15.6 minutes

Jerome James
7-1 C from Florida A&M
3.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.3 apg in 9.0 minutes

Channing Frye
6-11 C from Arizona
12.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 0.8 apg in 24.2 minutes
Incoming

Allen Iverson
6-0 PG from Georgetown
33.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 7.4 apg in 43.0 minutes

Samuel Dalembert
6-11 C from Seton Hall
7.3 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 0.4 apg in 26.7 minutes

Bobby Jones
6-7 from Washington
No games yet played in 2005/06
Change in team outlook: +4.2 ppg, -2.9 rpg, and -0.6 apg.

I don't see why Philly wants to get rid of Webber. He is a FA the year after next so he becomes a very valuable trade chip 12 months from now. If Philly goes with Marbury over Iverson, Webber will get mor shots and will make a very nice scoring duo. Throw Channing in as their starting center and they'll look like this:

Marbury
Iguodala
Korver
Webber
Frye

That is pretty solid, IMO.

Meanwhile for us Dalembert gives us a swing player on defense (PF and C), is a Marcus Camby type potential player and would, IMO, look great whether playing next to Curry or teaming with Lee to form a strong defensive frontcourt:

Francis
Iverson
Q
Lee/Dalembert
Curry/Dalembert

AI to GoldenSt for Mike Dunleavy and Baron Davis
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Why the obsession with AI all of a sudden, it's not like he is going to come in and automatically change the make up of the team. He will have the same effect Steph had the first season he was here. Then he will have the same faith as eddy is the 1st option. People kill me with these trade break downs, you trade one knuckle head for another. At least the one we have is willing to work with the coach and they have an understanding. Why start over now ? Keep Marbs and let him expire, if you watch the games you'll see we are clearly better with him on the floor. He is starting to understand his role on the team.

To me Francis should go, but not for AI. We dont need him or his baggage.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

The knicks hopefully will not get and we don't need AI. You think steph, francis, crawford, and robinson dominate the ball, AI is worse than those four. I am a fan of his and I like Georgetown players, but no thanks to him. He will be out to prove that he can still carry a team, jacking up 25 to 30 shots a game and shooting a low percentage.
