Another team that can't be totally dismissed is the New York Knicks, who are in the unique position of being able to take back both Iverson and Chris Webber in a trade. Because the salaries of Iverson and Webber add up to nearly $38 million, the Knicks would have to offer at least $30.4 million worth of contracts back -- a total that could be reached with a package of Steve Francis, Quentin Richardson, Malik Rose and Channing Frye.

Personally i love iverson and his passion for the game, but this deal will kill the development of eddy curry, and will probably kill whatever team chemistry Q rich helped bring. this is probably just ESPN speculation but the only way this makes any sense is if marbury is going to get cut after this deal.

If you sub Jerome James for Quentin Richardson, then it becomes more intersting....

Then again not really.

You know Isiah desperately wants to do this deal.

No thanks. The last thing this team needs is another major overhaul. Webber is definitely not the defensive shot blocking PF we need next to Curry. If you could trade Francis, Rose, and Frye for A.I. (which Philly likely will not do), that might be something to consider but taking on Webber is not smart.

Webber's deal is done after this year and the Knicks are not winning a championship this year, so we might as well take his contract back for the remainder of the year and send some of our large contracts away.

If they threw Carney into the deal, I'd do it.

Mainly because I feel we easily make the playoffs with that squad (which makes me feel better about the EC trade) while not taking on longer deals.

EC/JJ1
CWebb/Lee
JJ2/Balk
AI/RCarney
Steph/Crawford

That's deep and straight nasty, if they had any chemistry what-so-ever. That buys us 2 years to make a run, with both AI and Steph expiring at once. Very interesting scenerio indeed..

Stephon Marbury and Allen Iverson on the same team. Good Lord.

If only we could keep Francis too. I'd love to see a lineup of Marbury, Iverson, Francis, Crawford and Robinson.

Go small.

Hmmm...
How we will get 40 shots for AI?
he will need to steal the ball from Marbs and Curry on each possesion.
But hey - it's not a big problem. Steph and Eddy are very stillable...

I dont know. I know said earlier today in another thread that I wouldn't do this kind of trade but I think if we got AI and Webber I would do it, for the lone fact that we would be shedding a TON of contracts. I absolutely love Q and I don't want to trade him but if we could trade him, Malik and Francis for AI and Webbers expiring contract next year, I think I would do it.

At the end of 2008/2009 season, we would have Marbury AND AI coming off the cap, for a grand total of 42 mill and Webbers 22million coming off next year. The Knicks might actually get some sense of cap flexibility soon if we did this.

Too much. Take Q out and give them Craw and then I guess we could do it.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Big difference this time..

Iverson is a superstar in every sense of the word. He's not some 'potential' guy or has-been. He's in the dead of his prime and would instantly be this teams best player. The guys never played with anything near this much talent surrounding him and he's carried a team on his back to the finals.
