Dear New York Knicks Fans:

December 22, 2006 will mark a glorious occasion in the long, illustrious history of the New York Knicks:

The 3-Year Anniversary of My Decision to Hire Isiah Thomas.

A Cause For Celebration:

Since December 22, 2003, Isiah has shown me a lot of "evident progress":

* Zero Playoff Wins
* A Won-Loss Record of 92-147 (.384)*
* Unprecedented Salary Cap Mismanagement
* No Franchise Player and No Hope of Getting One
* Voted "General Manager of the Year" by Jerome James' Agent
* Voted "General Manager of the Decade" in Phoenix, San Antonio, Chicago, Toronto, and Orlando

*Through December 7, 2006

The Invitation:

In celebration of all that Isiah has accomplished the 3 years that he's been here, I will be throwing a party in his honor, and YOU'RE INVITED!

Based on the recent home attendance figures, I know that there aren't many of you left. And I know that Isiah blames you for the team's poor home record. But, for one night, let's think positive and Let's Party Like It's 1998-99.

Party Details:

The Master of Ceremonies will be Anucha Browne-Sanders. The party will be catered by Stephon Marbury's cousins. And event security will be provided by the Greenburgh Police Department.

For your viewing pleasure, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will provide live entertainment featuring "Spontaneous" Nate Robinson.

For your listening pleasure, my band, "J.D. and the Straight Shot," will perform all of Isiah's favorite songs:

* "It's Still Layden's Fault"
* "Don't Blame Me--Blame Larry"
* "Let's Pretend We're Rebuilding"
* "Take It Easy on Me--I'm From the West Side of Chicago"

There will be a charity auction fundraiser. The items up for auction will include:

* A Six-Pack of Isiah's Kool Aid
* Isiah's Continental Basketball Association
* A "Scowl Towel" autographed by Stephon Marbury
* 2 Front-Row Tickets to the 2007 NBA Lottery in Secaucus, New Jersey

All fundraiser proceeds will go to my favorite charity, The Luxury Tax Foundation.

Special Guests:

There will be special guest appearances by all the members of Isiah's "Golden Parachute Gang": Don Chaney, Lenny Wilkens, Shandon Anderson, Jerome Williams, Maurice Taylor, and Jalen Rose. And Larry Brown will be signing autographs for a $1,000 apiece in the MSG Parking Lot.

Party Place:

The Atlantic Basement in the Eastern Conference Room at Madison Square Garden.

Party Date/Time:

We have a home game versus the Chicago Bulls the night of Isiah's 3-Year Anniversary. The party will begin as soon as the Bulls have a 20-point lead. The Knicks fan who boos Isiah the loudest will win a Bulls jersey autographed by Tyrus Thomas and Greg Oden.

How to RSVP:

RSVP by clicking the "Comments" icon below. The first 100 Knicks fans to RSVP will win a replica of Nazr Mohammed's San Antonio Spurs Championship Ring.

RSVP Deadline:

RSVP before Isiah's spell over me wears off or the Commissioner is forced to intervene, whichever comes first.

Closing Remarks:

When my daddy gave me a promotion and put me in charge of the family business, I knew I was destined for greatness. And hiring Isiah has been my best executive decision ever. As proof, here is a December 2003 quote from Isiah, accurately predicting what his impact on the New York Knicks would be:

"The way the salary cap is set up today, mistakes are costly. If you come in and really don't assess properly and do your homework, you can set this franchise back further."

Come to Isiah's party or I will sue you.

Yours truly,

James L. Dolan

That's awesome.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Most telling actual Dolan quote of the Isiah era came at his introductory press conference. Isiah was saying it would take a few years to rebuild and get back to the playoffs and Dolan cut him off and said, "we're making the playoffs this year."

If anyone thinks Isiah is the reason this franchise is screwed, you're forgetting the Dyess trade and the reasoning behind it. If you think firing Isiah will fix things, you're crazy. If you think Mills is going anywhere because of all this, you're wrong. Nothing will change. Problem is higher up than Isiah.

Exactly. How mindbogglingly stupid was the McDyess trade? The guy was coming off major knee surgery and yet Layden gave up Marcus Camby and a lottery pick without having the chance to ensure that McDyess was fully recovered. If he had half a brain, he might of traded Camby and a conditional first based on McDyess's PT during the 2002-03 season (it would still have been really dumb, but at least it would have shown that he understood the risks involved).

I can recall listening to Frank Layden (who was working for the Knicks at the time) on the radio on the day of that draft and he said NY fans won't tolerate rebuilding. What a whore. He would rather blame Knick fans for short-sighted trades so that he and his son could continue to cash their fat checks rather than blame the moron in charge, Little Dolan.

The person who ends up replacing Isiah will likely tell Dolan what he wants to hear: that he can trade the young assets for an established star to increase attendance.

And Mills will continue to be the teflon idiot who gets to keepshis job for a reason that I am unable to figure out.

Like trading two unprotected first-rounders for a player with a potential life-threatening heart disorder and a reputation for underachieving.

The Knicks' doctors gave Curry a clean bill of health, and even though the trade may not have been prudent, Curry can still become a franchise center. McDyess's injuries prevented him from playing much as a Knick, and have subsequently reduced him to a role player.

btw, I suspect that if Isiah had a lottery pick in 2002, he would have drafted Amare.

Did he do that, or did he merely question their intelligence? IMO, they are too quick to boo.

Either way, Isiah's recent comments haven't caused the Knicks to make a short-sighted trade, at least not yet.

Knick fans dont boo to early. The starters come out and give a crappy effort. That earns boos.

As for Isiah its his fault. We didnt have enough assets to "win now" and any GM who can read would have told Dolan Mills that.

Brilliant, djsunyc. Very very accurate. It's nice that the general populous is coming around and seeing what a cancer Isiah Thomas has been to this franchise.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
