After firing Thomas and hiring Paul Silas, here's what I'd do:
Bench Marbury indefinitely. Hopefully he'd get so disgusted that he'd take the D-train back to Coney Island and stay there. Start Crawford, Richardson, Jeffries, Lee, and Eddy Curry (and continue to force feed the big guy the ball in the pivot). Use Francis as a 12-minute per game backup at the point and make him the primary scorer for the second unit. Use Crawford to backup the two-guard spot and Richardson as a backup at small forward. Frye plays 20-plus minutes at power forward (probably more since Lee is always in foul trouble), plus whatever's leftover at small-forward. Rose plays behind Curry. Depending on the matchups and the game-situations, Jeffries is the defensive stopper at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 spots (and even versus some centers). And Balkman gets a half rotation at the wings. Robinson is used sparingly and is on a short string.
That's a standard eight-man rotation. It's also a design that is truly committed to rebuilding. Perhaps this team will lose five to eight more games than the current rotation will, but so what?
Sell the Knicks as playing the kids and building for the future. Hey, the New York fans are sophisticated enough to be told the truth. Look how much they embraced the early Mets.
