I've recently been thinking about who could come in after Isiah and 'fix the knicks'. Saw this in a story today, what about Jerry West?
More clarity about West's future is part of that waiting game. Though Davis has said he'd like to offer West a lifetime contract, many believe West is leaning toward leaving at the end of this season if the sale goes through and then finding one more big challenge in some other NBA city.

I honestly don't know about West's specific style, just know of his record for success. A good idea for the Knicks?

I would absolutely love to get Jerry West in here. He has a great track record and the Knicks could sorely use him. I hope the Grizz don't get him signed up.

That would be a nice fit. He would bring something this organization is sorely lacking... credibility.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If West could get Dolan to sell the Knicks, it could work out

I would have to agree that West could do a good job and bring credibility to the franchise.

If west did come, i wouldn't be worried about the one thing that Isiah has going for him - talent evaluation. In my opinion, Zeke's is pretty much, if not one of the best, the best drafter in the business. West is just about as good (plus he doesn't make stupid trades).

Whatever you may say about Isiah, whoever comes in here next is going to have a good base of young talent to work with. There will be some trades to even things out, but I don't think we need any more young-ins (I'd make an exception for Shaun Livingston - one of the best post-passers out there).

Why would this be necessary after the fantastic job Isiah has done?

I do not understand why so many people are against Isiah. He's a fairly good GM - I am sure Isiah understands Shaq and Kobe could win a few titles too.

btw, Memphis sucks

West made the move to bring in Shaq as a free agent, he made the move to get kobe in the draft and put the necessary players around him

If Memphis wasn't stripped of their draft pick they would have Wade, Melo, or Bosh, so west go screwed when he lost his pick from a previous gm

Isiah is awful, Rose, Francis, James, Crawford all were terrible deals, not nearly every trade he has made

Lets take a look at Memphis starting lineup if no one was hurt

PG-Damon Stoudamire
SG-Eddie Jones
SF-Mike Miller
PF-Stromile Swift
C- Pau Gasol

Bench: Rudy Gay, Hakim Warrick, Chucky Atkins, Kyle Lowery, Brian Cardinal

I'm sorry to break it to you but thats a very good team.

By the way, they've won 45+ games every year since West has been there.

Well, I will agree that IT has not been the greatest GM in the league, but he has brought in alot of solid young talent, so I would not call him awful. He made a few bad trades and signings, but really outside of signing JJ1 to that huge contract (which at the time we were desperate for a center) and trading for Francis (which was arguably made to appease LB) his other transactions have usually resulted in added draft picks that he has used to get very solid players. I think West would be good here, but I am not opposed to giving IT another year (assuming the team continues to improve over the season) to see if he can put in the final piecies.

Seriously name the solid young talent

Good
Lee-great pickup
Frye-lottery pick remains to be seen his true worth, your supposed to get an nice player there
Balkman-will bring some good things to the table, develops a jumpshot he is a starter....

Please
Crawford-SUCKS! 40% shooter, gunner, bad decision maker, doesn't defend
Nate-selfish, in his own world, can score the ball but do little else, he is a liabilty out there on defense although he makes a number of highlight plays

Frye - Picked 20 slots too high
Nate - Decent selection for that slot, not a great one
Lee - Very good pickup
QRich - Very good pickup, Isiah's only good trade
Balkman - Good roleplayer, picked 10-20 slots too high
Collins - Remains to be seen
Crawford - Decent pickup, way overpaid
Curry - Paid too much to get him, overpaid, not a franchise player

I see a solid core... of ROLE PLAYERS. Too bad we have nobody to build around.

I would think that West would have no problem either benching or cutting a malcontent like Marbury, and would reward the hustle players with more playing time. Perhaps Isiah will show a pair next week when Jeffries comes back and makes the right decision by benching Marbury.
The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.
