Win Or Else

Dec 6 - Two team sources said Tuesday the Sonics have roughly 3 weeks to prove to management and new owner Clay Bennett that they are a legitimate playoff contender or the brass will seriously consider wholesale changes that may include a coaching change as well as a series of trades, perhaps involving forward Rashard Lewis.

A team source said Bennett was upset with Bob Hill at how the coach handled a public feud with reserves Damien Wilkins and Earl Watson.

crawford + frye for wilcox? (maybe they throw in a pick heavily protected?)

could jamal and nate's appeal to the sonics not actually be any higher than market because of the new owner's possible plans to move the team?

as in, if the team is moving, why bother bringing in seattle natives?

i'd take wilcox or watson, or one of the project centers- not as interested in stars like ray allen or rashard lewis.

DONE! IS there any reason they will not make this trade? As I understand, Frye is very highly rated. Possible?

I'd prefer Ray Allen and Luke Ridenour

Getting rid of Lewis would make sense for them b/c he's due a big re-up.

Jefferies + Nate?
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

we're giving up too much in my opinion. If they threw in a pick, maybe I'd do it. wilcox hasn't really proven anything yet - especially showing the type of mental toughness playing in NY would require.

Francis, Crawford, Frye for Ray Allen, Fortson & Wilkens.

Curry/Fortson/Cato
Lee/Jefferies/Rose
Richarson/Jefferies/Balkman/Wilkens
Allen/Marbury/Nate
Marbury/Nate/Collins

Allen & Richardson with Curry in the middle & Lee doing the dirty work makes us #1 in the Atlantic. Allen is a guranteed 20+ pts if he is healthy with 5rebs & 4assist plus he plays solid defense. And the outside shooting is so very needed to compliment Curry. We would have the legit star this team needs. Go to SG, Go to C, Richardson at the 3rd scoring option doing the little things. Lee doing the little things. And Marbury has allready accepted not shooting as much. We need a move like this badly.

Those expiring contracts would come in handy now, eh?
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

IF we were going to pick up Ray Allen who seems like a natural fit with Currys inside dominance I still would try to move one of our bad contracts back to Seattle. Ray is 31 and his deal is one year longer than Franbury

IMO that is too much to give up for Wilcox. Wilcox is good but it remains to be seen whether he will ultimately be better than what Frye can become. To give up Frye and Crawford, who does have some value around the league, is too much. It would have to be Crawford and Frye for Wilcox and a top-3 protected 1st rd. pick before I would even consider it.

Who we really need is Ray Allen or Rashard Lewis. You put shooters around Curry and teach Curry how to effectively pass out of the double team and you then will have something. Now a Allen and Wilcox for Crawford, Frye, and Rose + a second (or lottery protected 1st) round pick would be a good trade for us.

The Knicks are rebuilding and need to continue. Trades for Ray Allen involving our younger players will help us short term, but won't be enough to make us contenders.

No more trading draft picks. Wilcox is over rated. Thats why he only got 6 mill as a FA this year. I wouldnt mind having him but lets not make him out to be an all star or anything. Ray Allens feeding Curry would be unreal. Ray would be the perfect compliment but he is 31 with 4 years left on his deal

No way Seattle takes a bad contract, they're going to want to cut costs. I'd be willing to trade Marbury + Frye for Ray Allen, as we have no shot of being under the cap for 6 years anyway (our sophmores are going to cost us big $$$ when they're free agents, despite how downplayed it is on this board).

C-Eddy Curry
PF-David Lee
SF-Jared Jeffries
SG-Ray Allen
PG-Steve Francis

Bench:
C-Kelvin Cato
C-Jerome James
PF-Malik Rose
SF/SG-Quentin Richardson
SF-Renaldo Balkman
SG-Jamal Crawford
SG/PG-Nate Robinson
PG-Mardy Collins

As this is too many cooks in the backcourt kitchen, I would then try to trade something like Crawford for Reggie Evans.
