“Either you’re slingin crack rock or you got a wicked jumpshot…”

Hip-hop and basketball have been forever linked. So it’s not suprise that alot of ballers want to be rappers and live the lavish life in the spotlight. And with the way rappers flash their cash you’d think they were signing multi-million dollar contracts like athletes.

With that in mind, several of us in E-Cosa Nostra got together to form some comparisions…

Rapper - Athlete

Cam’ron - Rasheed Wallace
A player with a ****load of talent in one era who let image and trouble-making/rabble-rousing define him more than the aforementioned talent.

Kayne West - Gilbert Arenas
Both have some relentless things to prove and walk with a heavy heavy chip on their shoulders. They can also be counted on for bizarre quotes and public behavior. But their beauty lies in the times when they go off to unreal levels in their fields.

50 Cent - Stehpon Marbury
Decidedly New York in attitude. Coming off some great rookie play and okay-second-year effort. They are both in a severe decline while believing they have the best **** in the world to offer. A cancer to many around them and always beefing. Extreme illusions of granduer.

Jay-Z - Mike
Easy. Retires for fun just to come back and drop 55 at the Garden. Nuff said.

Parrish Smith (PMD)- Scottie Pippen
Acheived great things when paired with others, but falling just short when going solo.

Old Dirty Bastard (R.I.P.) - Ron Artest
Unpredictable and unorthodox, but also skilled.

Afroman and/or DMX- Ricky Williams
“Because I got high….”. Zing! Sorry but it was too easy. Seriously though, if son could lay off the drugs we could see him shine again.

Nas - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
A skilled technician of the game with the acute sense of the world around him. Like Kareem, Nas seems unaffected by hip-hop and its silliness nowadays. Birthed many others with his style of play.

Twista - Robert Horry
Need a clutch performance from a dude with ice in his veins? He’s your man.

Prodigy of Mobb Deep - Alonzo Mourning
Started with a roar. Physical ailments and low performances (plus a Summer Jam screen in P’s case) knocked down his stock. Hitched a ride with a winning team as a role player.

Joe Budden - The whole And1 squad
Crazy skills and prowess. Hot on the street but not in the League.

E-40 - Shaq
Dope and respected…but half the time who knows what the hell they’re talking about?

Lil Jon - Ray Lewis
Talks tough talk and loud…and makes hits to back it all up.

Puff - Phil Jackson
He won with great talent and meshes well with the best artists and can bring the best out of them. He also has a formula that is unmistakable. Match him with lessers and he can’t do as much but he’ll get ‘em on the charts/playoffs.

Ludacris - Ray Allen
Pure but bland @ times. But such an amiable guy, who couldn’t like him?

Ras Kass - Rashard Lewis
Great but unknown because he’s on the West Side. Damn that “East Coast media bias”.

Russell Simmons - Jerry Buss
Seen more talent than Jerry too…got hot daughters like Jerry and a hot wife.

Kobe Bryant - Ghostface Killah
Has all the chops to do it on his own and has shown us this time and time again. Will show us why we fear his arrogance as much as we despise it. Just when you think he’s gone or less relevant in the face of newer stars, he drops 81…or Fishscale.

T-Mac - Eminem
He’s great when he’s healthy…like great…but when he’s gone and comes back half-strength..you wonder where the old one went.

A.I. - T.I.
The little guy who will drop 30-40 every time out from sheer effort and tenacity. Hops out the building but doesn’t need to. Never questions himself. There are no bad shots or bad songs.

Elton Brand - AZ
Consistent and improving his game even at vet status.

Young Jeezy - Dwyane Wade
Coming out the South with those flourishes you never expected to see or hear. Arguably the best of his class but you’re not sure because of ALL the talent around him.

Lil Wayne - Kevin Garnett
Came in the game young. Could be one of the best and still young. Innate understanding of the game and all in it.

Jadakiss - Jason Kidd
Fan favorite & good for some highlights. Never can seem to win a chip.

Jim Jones - Chad Johnson
Sorry for the NFL reference but…M.E.M Award - Most Entertaining Mother****er. Anything can happen when these dudes are on a roll.

Chamillionaire - Mick Vick
Undeniable star power. But no broad in her right mind would ****’em.

Common - Tim Duncan
Consistent. Fundamentally sound. Sometimes boring. Won big with the assistance of others.

Tony Yayo - Olden Polynice
They both suck and nobody really remembers them.

Special Ed - Eddy Curry
had all the tools & skill to be special but except for a couple shining moments, never did enough to be considered among the elite

Heavy D - Big Turd James
self-explanatory

Naughty By Nature - The NY Knicks
were really good back in the day, but haven't heard a peep out of em since

Lil Bow Wow - Stephon Marbury
all bark, no bite. looked to have potential growing up, but has been exposed to be nothing more than a 2nd rate wannabe w/questionable sexuality issues.
