I'm not saying I agree with everything said here, but I believe this comment from Frank Isola's blog is a good example of the take many who are most the most vehement supporters of Isiah have versus the view that Isiah has ruined the team.

I repeat...

this view is not necessarily indicative of my own...

A Kurt Thomas mention? I don't know if you remember...but when he was here the team sucked. The team had no pacing, no respect and no wins. I had to take a couple years off from watching them. The Nets can thank that Knick team for its revitalized fanbase. They were boring to watch even when they did win. And when they made the playoffs, they had no shot if you were realistic Knick fan. It was like they removed the heart of our team and left us with nothing but role players. It was pathetic. With this team the way it is now, at least they are exciting to watch. They win games they have no business winning.

They are obviously missing pieces and have way too many young guys on the squad but we are in a much better place. I for one commend Isiah for the job he is doing. The salary cap situation was terrible when he got here. I would say worse because of all the long term contracts and the collection of aging role players. He had to buy out half the team and give away the other half for nothing but youth. No one had any value. He even resorted to giving away picks...why? You think he loved Jamal Crawford that much? or Eddy Curry? No. His current batch of players sucked. Financially the Knicks have been the worst run franchise for many moons. Thanks Dolans. And all that was done by Zeke just to get to what we have today. Yet, fans think the Knicks we were better off back then? How? They were boring, overpaid, still too old and going nowhere.

I'm convinced it was a curse left behind by the Ewing to Seattle trade. I don't care what amount of money you potentially save, they should have shown some integrity as a franchise and kept that man on staff and let him retire with the dignity that he showed to us when he played injured and unsupported on all those playoff teams.

I will say this. The argument made by this person is valid. While one might disagree with the assessment, it does not mean that the person is lacking a sense of reality. It's just a different way to view things.

In your view, it may be misguided, yet to some it is quite logical.

Same as many of the most vehement Isiah supporters seeing the UK mafia as fake fans with grudges against Isiah, Marbury, etc. that blind their interest in seeing any potential positives. It's all a matter of perspective.

two more things that falls under the umbrella of a knicks team president are ticket sales and tv ratings/ad revenue.

this team is having problems selling tickets and it's no longer on national tv.

I'll give the "logical" nod to the Ewing trade being a terrible move that started us in a downward spiral and the we were in a bad place before Isiah got here assertions.

He was right about that. The rest of it, though, was garbage. He basically said he'd rather have exciting losers than boring winners. Okay??

The key highlights:
The salary cap situation was terrible when he got here.

Ok. But Isiah trumped how bad it was by a long shot, and set the franchise back an extra three years.
He had to buy out half the team and give away the other half for nothing but youth. No one had any value. ... He even resorted to giving away picks.

How can one claim to be rebuilding and then do such attrocities as "giving away picks", while NOT getting cap room.

That alone proves Isiah did a crummy job.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Nobody has ever denied that. Not even me.

It's about the moves that he's made since he's arrived and where we are now as opposed to where we could have been if he had any clue.

The proper course should be, and should have been to look to obtain blue chip players.

Not stars, not defects, not overpaid talents, and not Starburys.

Its boring, but effective over time. Thru that, you will have emerging talent. Some failures and some surprises.

You stay away from the Curry's, Crawfords, and Marbury's! Draft the Fryes, the Dlees but not the Nate. Nate is special, but you have to have a methodiacl and diciplined approach to everything you do!

THe Marcus Williams and Chris Duhans fall in your lap you take them.

to call anyone posting on this forum a "fake fan" is ridiculous... no fake fan of any team would bother wasting their time posting here to begin with... so let's put those silly labels to bed for the sake of having intelligent discussion.

not everyone shares the same vision for this franchise... some have a different take on what the proper way would be to build a championship calibre team... doesn't make any 1 person more right than the other... some would rather build for the now & try & make the playoffs by any means necessary... others prefer to sacrifice the now for the sake of a much longer term vision for success in the future... doesn't make anyone here more of a fan than the next person, does it? in the end we all want to see this team win a championship, bottomline... or at least that's what the common goal should be anyway.
