I really thought Nate was making huge progress this season. While that assists are pretty pathetic, he has been under control more often than not.

I realize his minutes have been cut as its more about getting Franbury the opportunity to get it going and someone has to take a seat.

Perhaps he is more axious? Remember the end of the Cavs-Knicks in the Garden when Lebron was "petting" the Nate'ness at half court at the end of the game seemingly telling him to keep it constrained and complimenting him too?

Seems like Nate had to prove somthing last nite. Im sure at his height he has always had to do that but the kid has made it and his "special" antics could have cost us the game.

'SPONTANEOUS' NATE'S DUNK TURNS INTO DISASTER
By MARC BERMAN

November 30, 2006 -- CLEVELAND - Nate Robinson made about four bonehead plays last night, none more ridiculous than his attempt at a circus dunk when he was ahead of the field.

In the second quarter, Robinson stole the ball from Damon Jones. He had a clear path for a layup. Instead he took two steps bounced the ball off the floor so he can reach up and dunk it. It never got that far as he was whistled for traveling.

Thomas seethed but didn't yank him.

"I don't think we'll see that again," Thomas said. "I think he understands how I feel about that."

It was that kind of theatre that caused Larry Brown to want to demote Robinson to the minor leagues last season.

"I won't try it again unless we're up 20 points," Robinson said. "That's spontaneous Nate. Spur of the moment."

And Robinson wasn't done. He committed a foolish goaltending after LeBron James hoisted a runner while he was getting fouled. The ball hit the bottom portion of the glass. Inexplicably, Robinson leaped and slapped the ball off the glass again for an automatic goaltending.

"I thought the play was over," Robinson said. Thomas then yanked him.

Robinson also had two other miscues, committing a foul by setting an ill-advised pick at halfcourt. Then Robinson was chewed out by Thomas for giving up the ball late in the shot clock to shooting-challenged Renaldo Balkman, and a 24-second violation occurred.

It was a nightmare night for Nate. "All that matters is we won," Robinson said.

"We'll make sure we get him better at those things without taking his game away," Thomas said. "We need his game, his enthusiasm and the energy he brings to the floor."

My only problem with the move Nate pulled was that it was on the road.

If he did that at home, i have no problem with it: Why? Because the risk is worth it... If Nate pulls off some **** like that at HOME the crowd would go SO FUCKIN NUTS that it could propell us to a win just by the energy alone.

I have no prob nate doin **** like that at home.. on the road - theres no point besides a sportscenter highlight.. which is cool - but not worth the risk

save it for the garden!

Nate has shown alot more restraint this year than last. I think he is making an effort to develope as a PG. BUt really, I think he needs to just focus on being a scorer right now. We don't need him to necessarily run the offense, we need him to produce offense. The stuff last night should be corrected, but it is not the end of the world. He will realize that there is a time for those types of plays and playing against the best team in the east on the road in a close game is not the time to showboat.

He's young and enthusiastic- which are good things. But he does need to learn to calm down a bit.

Nate's antics against the cavs is just an example of what's wrong with the knicks, owner, coach/gm and some players are crazy and at times so very unprofessional.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I dont have a huge problem with some of Nate's antics. He's a football player. He reminds me a lot of Shockey early on. The same thing that makes him good makes him bad. Nate needs to play at a certain (elevated) energy level to be effective. That sometimes results in idiotic plays as he's a ball of motion run amok. He will need to find the line between motion and thought. Can he? I hope so.. others have. Camby was similar in some aspects. Under JVG he became an amazing rebounder and I remember him having multiple 20 rebound nights and really flying around on help D. Problem was he played faster than his body allowed and spent too much time laying on the hardwood. A little retraint (and maturity) and his game is still good but a little healthier. Nate will need to find that same kind of balance.

Nate's shooting 48%. Up from 40% last year... he's getting there. Gotta kick out the stupid stuff

Phil Ford Was a "balls to the wall" type player who often than not sacrificed his body.

I'd like to see Nate "Refine" his game which might include toning things down a bit.

I thought it was funny last night when Breen, seriously clueless was like Nate is coming out of the game Isiah has to be furious!

When we know in the offseason, Isiah was all about Nate being nate and doing what he wants, its a major difference between being a good coach and developing players and allowing them to do their own thing......

Nate is seriously exciting but he is a one on one player that is going to do what he does if you want to live with it you can't complain, thats why i thought it was a little crazy when everyone got on me for a Warrick/Lowry for Nate/Frye trade. I would rather have people that play in a team concept and get to the line and do the little things.

Don't get me wrong i love his energy, but can you win with him?

Its Isiahs fault for drafting him right? Dolan told Isiah to tell Nate to try that.

Breen is the worst announcer on the planet, I love it when we have Gus on the mike, you can tell that dude is a real knick fan...lol i remember when crawford stole the ball back and hit that three a few weeks ago gus was just screaming into the mike, and i was like, man you can tell this guy loves the knicks...

But Breen is a LAME

Nate ain't Mike now bro is he?

The The dunk was one thing. ANd he could have gotten real hurt. It was not as uncontested as he thought and anyone with pride would not let him showboat!

The interference off the glass was silly also. Sure he got mad hops, but it cost another 2pts.

And the illegal pick was moronic and ill timed.

Nate is special in so many ways.

No to discredit Nate's worth, but, am I alone in being a bit wary that through 17 games Nate has 28 turnovers and 26 assists?

I dont mind Nate screwing up. He has to mature a lot though because in the paper he said he will try it again when we are up 20. Doesnt he get that its a travel?

I've always wondered about this. I thought he was called for taking an extra step. I'll have to look that up.

As far as Nate's decision-making at times goes, you know, sometimes I think he's the type you could sell ocean-front property in Kansas to. :)

of course not - he's shorter

i think nate can be a very effective 2-guard off the bench. he's a crazy spark of energy and can be as effective as an earl boykins or bobby jackson. he's not your starter and he's not your point guard. if this team had a decent starting rotation and a solid structure, you'd really want a nate in your 6-8th man spot to change the pace of a game, be able to contribute 20 points on any given night, play disruptive d, etc. he's gonna bring the boneheaded stuff too somethimes, but i think the good way outweighs the bad.

Nate is not a pg at all. He is just short. He is a 100% gunner. He looks for his own shot as option a, b, and c.
I think the dunk wa a travel. I cant remember but I thought he caught the ball and threw it down to the floor with 2 hands. As LB said he wants to be a high light reel.
