Really, we don't need to rebuild per se. IT has already done that. Nate, Lee, Frye, Collins, Jeffries, and Balkman are all solid players that seem to want to play hard and compete. Q is a young SG that, if his back holds up, can be a good player. Crawford at worst is a decent 6th man. That is a fairly good foundation. We could easily trade Curry if need be. He has flaws, but there are not too many big men that can score like him. If Eric Dampier can get paid, some other team will take Curry and send us decent assets for him. Francis is actually playing okay. So really, if you waive Marbury (which admittedly will not happen), trade Francis (I think Miami might bite), and let Rose fall off the books after next year, and sit James on the bench and give him 5 minutes or so, you will be left with the foundation of a solid team. Chicago is not looking as good as people thought, so our draft pick will probably be in the high teens to low twenties again. One thing IT seems to know how to do well is find a solid player in the mid to late first round, so I will assume that we get someone that can actually play and help with our draft pick. Next year, you start Crawford at PG, Q at SG, Jeffries at SF, Lee at PF, Frye at C. Nate is the 6th man and Balkman and Collins are the bench. That is the foundation of a potentially solid team 2 to 3 years from now if our young players keep developing their game. In Frye and Lee we have low post scoring. In Nate, we have scoring and energy off the bench. Q, if his back holds up, gives us outside shooting, and Crawford is a slasher/scorer (although I admit he is probably not a NBA starting PG). Assuming the Curry trade and the draft picks fill in some remaining holes and we should have a playoff team. I continue to believe that the team is only 1 or 2 good trades away from being a solid squad.
